Hey guys and gals, got a quick question. My friend has a 1g i believe a 93. The guy who had it before him put a 4g63 N/T in it. Anyway recently it started running kind of bad in that it doesn't want to hold idle on a cold start and after its warmed up it idles rough. My first two thoughts were that its either a vac leak or the ignition timing. Anyway (bear with me as i try to explain), he told me he was trying to check or set the timing(im not sure which) and while he was doing it, he kept blowing a fuse(again i dont know which). He told me he thought you had to ground the ECU to keep more fuses from blowing. Could someone tell me how to do this or what to do to ground the ecu? Thanks

i just had to reset my base timing on a 93. theres a connector near the battery on the firewall that is big. theres a big and a small one. it is the big one. take off the cap and put it in your pocket. then whip out a handy grounding wire(you have a piece of wire with aligators right?) and clip it to the metal pin and the negative terminal. then loosen the bolts a little on the cam angle sensor. set up ur timing light and mark the timing notches. the sticker under the hood says what the base timing should be. BE CARFUL of fans and belts. turn the cas very very little. hope u understand. this was the first time i ever set the timing and i did it right. just make sure ur engines not too retarded  and make sure the idles is right and it should be warmed up.

thanks, and yes that makes perfect sense. I dont have any aligator connectors but im sure he does. I know exactly where the two plugs are that your talking about.
