I searched and I think wasn't posted yet so which BOV is better Greddy Rs or HKS SSQV? In terms of the sound and doing the job? If you had to choose ehat would be your pick. Thanks a lot.

I would go with neither - get a Tial or Forge. If you want to pick either the RS or SSQV it depends on what flange you have on your intercooler pipe. With the SSQV you'll need a recirculation kit unless you are using a MAFT setup.

Back when I first got my car I was in a huge ricer phase, and without a MAFT setup I vented my bov. My two aftermarket bov have only been the SSQV and the RS.
If you're only going for sounds, I liked the RS. The SSQV had a high pitched flutter sound which I didn't like all that much, although many people do. For performance wise, I think I liked the SSQV a bit better. So yeah, HKS is a bad ass company, so I would say stick with them, however lots of aftermarket intercooler parts are pre-flanged for GReddy bovs. So your choice!! Have fun!

Function over form. What type of turbo are you running? Boost level? HKS is a generally all around good blow off valve and holds boost well. If you are just looking for something that sounds cool, the HKS whistles and the RS is more like a puff of air. I guess more details about your setup are needed in order to come to the right decision...

You can definately find an HKS ssqv cheaper then that, i picked mine up for $240 with universal flange.

BE CAREFUL, HOWEVER, FOR CHOSING THE SSQV for cheaper off of a site such as Ebay. Not that ALL of them are replicas, but awhile ago I remember reading on forums AND in magazines about a huge scam that was going on in where the SSQV was easily replicated. I'm not sure how it performed compared to that actual piece from HKS, but I would definetely recommend getting the original piece from the original company, and if that means spending a few extra bucks, don't skimp out on your pieces.
Although the above post is correct, there are MANY places where these days you should easily be able to find the true piece for less than $330 or whatever that exact price was. Good luck.

Here is the SSQV for $330 without the recirculation fitting

Here is the fitting sold separately, for about $12

However, from the same vendor you can pick up the Greddy RS with the recirculation kit for about $224. So you would save about $118 by going this route.

ICK ! Are you shopping in china ????

SBR(SlowBoyRacing)~HKS SSQ = $209.99 all day long just checked.
Local shops in metro washington DC area ALL bov's except the super high boost pro models are about $210

JUST got my SSQ welded on today, replaced my old Greddy Type S.

OMFG THIS THINGS SOUNDS AWSOME !

HKS ALL THE WAY ! :dsm:

HKS recirculated without question.

Just look for one that is well priced. I bought mine about 2 months ago with 7,000 miles on it off an Evo VIII, and it came with the recirculation piece for $165. Just had to buy the pipes which i went with the Dejon UICP (highly recommend).

Reliable, Great Sound, Good Choice :thumb:

That depends on if you trust SBR.

I'm running the hks knockoff from ebay. It works great, 25lbs no leaks. Do a search and there are threads from other people who have disected it. The thread is a few pages long just on the hks bov and knockoffs, and it came to a conclusion that it is ok to use. But just by design hks ssqv, real and knockoffs, will drop idle to almost dying and a few other things. The fix is also presented in that thread. Again this goes for authentic and knockoffs. And knockoffs work fine of the ssqv.

The greddy bovs since they rely heavy on a rubber diaphram inside, the knockoff uses an inferior material that is prone (but not always) to ripping. Perhaps in due time it will, or if your lucky never, but people just bought a replacement from greddy and the total price will still be less then buying the real one, and it works just as good. Also have threads on it if you do a search.

hands down both companys have proven there self in the field. I would go with a greddy only because everything down here(san antonio,tx) has a hks vaules. . . .and after a while it gets a little old. But you cant go wrong with either, but i think in the long run you'll spend more money on the hks vaule. :rocks: pick one and:rocks: on

Which of these sounds like someone letting the air out of a tire but with a squeak sound? I really dislike that bov...all the 240s, srt4s, and turbo hondas around here put those on. They pull out of a parking lot and you can hear those things vent.
