I recently installed a greddy full turbo timer on a 93 laser. car already had a code alarm aftermarket alarm. I hooked up the timer with the harness and ran the car pulled the key and the car just shut off. I had the brake up and even disconnected the the plug for the brake and ecu tap to rule out. I sent the unit back to greddy to have checked and they said all is working ok. unit comes on just doesnt count down. I seem to think that it has something to do with the alarm. it does not take a rocket scienctst to hook up. please help?????????????

What kind of alarm is it? Some have an engine kill feature. They will turn off the motor when the car is turned off. How do you have everything wired up?

You might try turning the alarm to valet mode, effectively disabling it, to give you a chance to test the turbo timer.

its a code alarm pro 5500. I called there tech support and the said not much of anything other then i should take it to a stereo shop and have them look at it, basically spend a 100 bucks. i could remove the fuse to the car alrm and check the turbo timer but at the same time i want to be able to use the alarm.

i used a harness from extreme psi and made sure it was the one for a non factory alarm. the only thing tech support said at code alarm in order to arm the car while the timer is counting down is a standard 5 pin realy from pep boys would have to be wired in but he wouldnt say how but that still does not help me with the timer even working .ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL

For right now, I'd pull that fuse. Disabling the alarm (for now) will remove one more potential problem from the situation. This will allow you to troubleshoot more effectively. Right now, we can see that the timer turns on. Next, we want to make sure the timer itself is wired and functioning properly(without interferance from the alarm).

I'm trying to look up some info on your alarm system, then I may be able to get a better view of what it can/can't do.

Is your Turbo timer wired into the car's wiring or the alarm harness?

Hey, I just realized that this is a repeat of a thread you posted yesterday. We don't take to kindly to that around here. For future reference, just update the other thread (since this is the same problem you were discussing yesterday).

One other thing I thought about. Do you hear the ECU kicking out when you turn off the ignition?

I did not mean to post twice. this is actully my first time posting and i put in once and wanted to make a change but posted twice accidently. but the turbo timer is wired into the cars ignition harness. yes i can hear the ignition shutting down about 7 sec's afterwards

HM... I'm really puzzled here. Now the ECU shouldn't click off until the turbo timer has finished its count down.

When your car is on, can you see the TT turn on? Will it count down when the car is running? Does it turn off after it counts down? What happens after it turns off?

If it functions properly while the key is still turned to on, then I think you have the power and accessory wires backwards. Check these things and let me know what happens.

Well i decided that insted of pulling fuses from the car alarm i went and removed the entire system mainly because it was a older alarm and code alarm's tech support doesnt even have any kind of wiring diagram so even if i had the tt working i would not be able to arm the alarm if the tt was counting down. So after all that the, tt still does not work.  . I went back and made sure no pins were bent and all connections are tight. so basically the timer comes on when i start the car and is set to 0.30 and sys count (a) and when i shut down the car the timer just shuts off followed by the ecu 7 sec later

Ok, when you turn the car on, does the timer start counting down???
How does the timer arm?

The TT shouldn't turn on until you pull the e-brake (safety feature, keeps car from getting stolen). It should also turn the car off if the e-brake is disengaged

well to let u know that all is working good know. I called tech support at greddy in california instead of new jersey and difference between night and day. problem is even though the plug and play harnes sold at extreme psi is sold under the header 90-94 1g dsm and it says ( eclipse talon laser) in caps. well it turns out the ignition in the laser is different then the talon and the harness does not work straight from greddys mouth coming out of the tt on the blac plug blue wire acc should be getting 12 volts when the key is in the ign postion. and recieve 12 volts on the red wire constanly. i was only getting 12 volts on acc and concstant when the car is running and once the car shut down i was losing all volts. they said to hard wire it which only took me like 10 mins due to me already had lower dash removed only need to hook up 12 v red to the white wire and the green wire to the black wire with the white strip and ground wire:thumb: thanks for all :D

Yea I don't deal with that harness. Hardwiring it is simple, and fun! haha, and you know if it's not working with the alarm, you have no one to blame but yourself.

A lot of car audio/alarm sites that show diagrams, more specifically 2gs, almost always have the acc and ign2 WRONG, acc is blue, and ign2 is blue/black, that is the correct way. I'm sure a lot of people out there have their turbo timer and alarm installs wrong and wonder why they can't arm it while its timing down, and when they do and it shuts off, unlocks the doors, so they result in using diodes, relays which are not necessary.

Glad you pulled that Code Alarm. I can't stand Code/Audiovox products. Once you go Directed (DEI) you'll never want anything else. Rarely do I have problems with them!
