hey guys i was wondering how accurate the Greddy Profec B Spec II EBC was . . . i dont have a boost gauge and i was wondering if the digital reading on the screen is accurate . . . and another question i had, i dont know how to use the gain %, the instuctions are in japanese and i dont quite read that - - - ported EVOIII, intake, exhaust, downpipe, fuel control, 660cc injectors, vr-4 fuel pump, RnR FMIC. thanks guys

you should really get boost gauge.. It doesnt hurt to get one but i think Greddy Profec B Spec II is pretty accurate i heard.. about the gain % is hard to find out...

I'm reading off of my book:

"Gain: This mode is used to adjust the boost consistency.
(Ajusts the sensitivity of the valve control.)
When boost spike occurs, lower the GAIN value.
When the boost falls off at high rpm, or the boost increases as rpm increases, raise the GAIN value.
Even if the SET boost is not changed, by increasing the GAIN value, it will increase the boost."

Hope this helps

Interesting. I'm currently fighting concerns about boost creep. Would this feature of the profec unit effectively adjust for boost creep, pretty much eliminating it?

The profec cannot eliminate boost creep. Some think it can help. I believe the gain has something to do with the duty cycle of the boost controller. Leaving it at 0 with 0% increase in boost should give you the minimum that the turbo can boost at, turning it up for me spooled quicker, but gave me some overboost and when it was too high I would jump and drop about 2psi as soon as I hit full boost on the T25.

As far as the accuracy goes, It was so worth it to get a real guage. Its right in front of you which is much less dangerous, and the greddy seems to lag a little bit in addition to being slightly off. I've heard of some people being up to 2psi off, while mine was usually closer to about 1 (though I think it was just lag). Either way, all those combinations lead me to say just get a guage.... especially since you can just T the line thats already in your car.

By the way, if you have a problem with the greddy saying you are overboosting and you shouldn't be... just turn it on and off again. Something to do with being powered on while the car is starting. I just leave mine off now until I want to make a run and then turn it to low or high.... depending on how much the hick wants to be spanked OMG

get a guage :thumb:
