Does anyone use The E-manage On thier turbo'd 420a. I want to know if this works? I don't want to buy anykind of megasquirt or portfueler. Can I just get larger Injectors, fuel pump and the E-manage to boost my fuel presure during boost? :dsm:

LOL, Its funny cause I have the emange, but I'm still not sure I would reccomend it to anyone. Its really useful when hooked together with an e-01 boost controller, but thats about it.

Check out 2gnt.com and search for some of the emange threads, it might help you decide a little better.

I guess I should ask why you don't want porterfuler or megasqurit.

Squirt will cost you about the same.

Well I just don't know how to make that megasquirt ....and I dont like Riging stuff up I read about it and it sounds like a strange rig .....I dont want a bunch of headaches as far as reliability. can I buy something pre made? like the HRC portfueler? But they said you gotta change the fuel lines and make it a return fuel system....I dont wantt a 600 hp monster. and I dont want to tear the whole car apart and change everything....dont they make a power programmer for this car ....my dad has a diesel Ram and he can add fuel with a bulldog programmer in 2 seconds. Is there something like that for this car?

Sounds like your looking for the good old

SFMU + SAFC + injectors

Or if you wanted to

Fuel pressure regulator + emange + injectors (no bigger than 440cc roughly)

Emange is gonna run you about $650 with all the harness and sensors and support tool

www.mohdparts.com

I forget how much a SFMU cost again, but the SAFC you'll find for $100-150 used, or on ebay for $250

Click on www.2gnt.com find mods/tech and look up everything in building a fuel system.

Sounds like you are in the same dilemma as me. I don't even want to touch all the wires, harnesses, sensors, etc on the MSnS. ESPECIALLY when it comes to feul delivery. It's just not something I want to mess up, because along with it will be your block.

Go with the route Randy mentioned earlier, with the SFMU+injectors+SAFC. But I think he may have forgotten about the feul pump you will need as well. Check out the 255lph vs. 190lph from walboro. The 255 would be more cost effective, and there just incase you get boost happy.

Also, you may find that there are SMFU's and FMU's. The SFMU basically has a AFPR within it. So thus the reason it may cost more money. It will regulate feul according to the ratio you choose and which unit you want (FMU or SFMU).

It may be tough to obtain idle with the large injectors and SAFC. I would recommend you having someone tune the car using wideband o2. Shouldn't take more then 2 or 3 hours for everything to be checked and setup. From my research and experience, most shops run around $100-$140 per hour of dyno tuning. It's well worth the money for the safety and assurance you get from knowing your motor and setip are safe from feul starvation, not to mention the extra ponies found with a couple hours of tuning. If you don't bost before I do, I'll let you know how the set-up and everything works. Maybe that could give you some insight on where to go..

Well thanks for the advice! Cant I just run low boost levels and watch my air fuel gauge?? I had to do that all the time anyway with the Nitrous...and the car always ran fine.. I acually have a wet system and I'm not gunna use the NOS anymore once I get the turbo Installed. So I can leave the port Injector for the wet NOS system in and Use that to boost my fuel if I go a lean. I'm just gunna start at extremly low boost and slowly increas boost till its Stoich. I dont know yet I just ordered the turbo kit so I'll see what i have to do when I get it

 so with a S-AFC, walbro 255hp and a fmu with a 4:1 disk with some 780cc or 680cc injectors would that let me boost around 16 to 20 psi of boost? because thats all i need my fuel system set up my plan was to hit around 400hp dont know yet but would that let me get to 20psi of boost? with nothing else and no i dont want to go with the 8injector set up is just too much $$$ thank you for the help:beatentodeath:

So from what I read here, if we don't want MegaSquirt...we get our bigger injectors, a S-AFC, and a FMU...correct?

What does FMU stand for?

If I have a S-AFC, will I need a air/fuel gauge, or will all that information be in the AFC?

I'm doing research to turbo the 420a.

In my list for fuel stuff, I have...

Injectors (don't know what size yet but I'm looking to run about 10-12 psi)
255 fuel pump
Adjustable fuel regulator
S-AFC

and I guess this FMU....that someone can explain to me. Does that fuel list sound about right so far? I will be building up the motor as well.

And about the MegaSquirt....is it like DSMLink where you have to have your laptop in the car?

First off you don't want an FMU w/ that setup

FMU = Fuel Management Unit

Your going to want either a 1:1 fuel pressure riser (FPR) or a SFMU (Super Fuel Management Unit) Both of these units are adjustable for fuel pressure because of injector size changes.

You don't need the SAFC, but it helps w/ this setup because you can lean out the fuel mixture, you can only lean it out so far though before you run into the problem of advancing the timing too far.

Stay away from an blinky light air/fuel gauge. If you want to make changes to your SAFC on your on and in your car. Your going to want a Wideband 02sensor. They start at $250+.

Good luck

im in the process of figuring out my own fuel management setup and i dont know what exactly i need. i have the whalbro 225 pump, 450cc injectors, and the safc but i hear that the safc is useless. i got a greddy e-manage that i can use but iono which i should use. and do i need the vortech fmu? is it even needed? im so confused :/

well i want to get as much power and psi and i can with my engine. it isn't rebuilt or anything and has a decent number of miles but i just want to get as much as i can with what i got. i almost almost done with my kit as i have been buying piece by piece when i can but the fuel management pieces im still unsure. my buddy thinks i should use the e-manage cause he thinks its one of the best fuel managements out there. i bought the safc from a friend and then read up on how its not efficient enough on the 420a so imma sell it and replace with......im not sure. :/

to be honest, i just want to reach 8psi for the time being. i wont be tracking it anytime soon and i plan to rebuild in the future cause i heard 8psi is pretty much the limit without rebuilding but if i can reach 8psi that would be awesome.

Only from personal experience, follow in those foot steps of who were succesful,. I tried to be different, but coming up with different ways to manage fuel and timing and this and that, but when it boiled down too it, i ended up with, portfueler, msd DIS2, and colder plugs, just to narrow it down. Much more complicated really but that sums it up. And now im paying the piper due to a bad machine shop. But at least i got to see 25lbs of boost. :hellyeah: ROCK ON!
