the FP3 is designed for a stroker engine.
Ive yet to wrap my head around this concept. If it flows better with a 2.3 it will flow just as nice with a 2 liter.

Port jobs look great guys, nice save with the weld. You guys think it's worth the time to port my manifold and O2 sensor before I sell (for more money obviously) or just sell them as they are? Been thinking of this for a while.......

Let me grab some shots of my SBR mani, I'm curious what you guys think of the port job while were on the subject.

FPCam3 and 4
The 2.0 engine cams are finished. FPCam3 and 4 are intended for 2.3 and 2.4 engines. They take advantage of the fact that RPM is limited to 8500 or less on these engines and take advantage of the higer piston speed to move more air. The lobes are different to get the most out of the 100mm stroke.

I don't know how they would work on a 2.0, but that isn't part of the design criteria. The advertised specs don't look drastically different than the FPCam2, all the difference occurs at the nose of the lobe. Advertised numbers and even the .050 numbers won't show the diference in the profile in this area

This is the thread that you should read up on.

right.....I'll be sure and get my stroker valves and strokers springs while I'm at it. I might need a stroker intake and filter too........

Ive read that link, it still doesn't register any thing that would exclude similar benefits on a 2 liter. Anyway, I'll get the pics up momentarily........

Right...Sounds like you know the answer to your own question already, perhaps you should enlighten us all on how fp3 will yield the same gains on a 2.0 instead of sarcasm when someone tries to answer your question. :toobad:

I don't mean to sound sarcastic, it just sounds like a canned load of carp :coy:

If the valve opens faster, stays open at full stroke longer, then closes promtly, it would seem there would be allowed more time for A exhaust to escape and B fresh air to enter the cilynder.

While the duration of the valve is unchanged, meaning the valve opens and seats at the same times, it is does in fact stay open wider for longer duration of the stroke. Does that make any sense?

Think like a hose faucet, you have 10 seconds of run time to turn the bib on and off. The fastert you can open the faucet up for flow, and the faster you can turn it off, the longer you can let it flow openly within that 10 second time frame.

That's OK, it happens. Upon further research, I found your thread about fp3s and see that you have already spoken to FP about this issue but did not get a definitive answer. I also called them today after your first post but was unable to get an answer either besides "losing some low end". Did you get your setup running yet? Any feedback?

My engine builders been laggin and I have not had a chance to see it run or work with the cam. Sorry.

The loss of low end FP talks about is compared to the stock cam BTW. The FP3 was dyno tested to have better low, mid and top end in back to back comparo with the FP2...... wich i thought was kinda cool.

Sorry thread starter for the hijack...

Heres my manifold and porting done by slowboy. She looks pretty good from here but theres a few spots way in there I'd like to touch up on........ overall pretty good (having seen your guys port work :p )

Looks decent. Is the seperator there or not? I can't tell in the picture. The seperator is a good thing to have, I personally wouldn't run a stock styled manifold without it.

A note for others, if this is bigger than the porting on your turbo, you will be doing more harm than good.

Best of luck.

The most common mistake people make when porting manifolds is wiping out that collector completely. It helps direct exhaust gasses towards the turbo. Its there for a reason

Thats a slow boy racing manifold next to a stock 2G mani guys. They do not cast in a full seperater like found in the 2G mani but there are accents and curves that influence the exhaust towards the collecter opening so that they all don't collide when the get to the colllecter. make sense? It's hard to see in these pics.......

There is ramps that lead towards the opening though

Hey, I got the same manifold from SBR and the porting job wasn't too bad at all. I went a little deeper in the runners and smoothed it out more but, I haven't had a change to put it on yet. I need to put an egt probe in 1st. The collecter area seems to be a big bigger than 7cm/2 - I may need to port my EVO3 some more.

It's not really there to direct the gasses toward the turbo. The seperator is there to attempt to seperate the exhaust pulses the motor gives out, in theory, creating less turbulence in the collector. The idea is similar to how a twin scroll turbo works.
