i have a 1992 talon tsi fwd...there is a new 14b turbo, no shaft play installed...heres the problem- i will boost it in first and second..i can feel the boost kick in at like 2800 then it will lag pretty bad then boost again...i dont really get it...it will also do it at lower rpm when just regular throttle is applied...also while im posting , my car smokes a good bit, not constant, but at start up and mainly idle....not the hg bc compression is goood and oil is good....is oil coming out of the bov bad? i eliminated the dump tube soo its open atmosphere now...i noticed on teh hoses areound it there is small amount of oil spray and down on the tranny is some oil spray(same direction as the bov points)....any help would be appreciated....thanks

recap
-boost lagging
-smoke
-oily bov

thanks

i will try your idea of putting the dump tube back on....ill post what happens...also ...wat about the other issues....bov with oi-is it normal? and the smoke ....ill post tomorow or saturday

The oil is from the valve cover vent. There is a hose on the left side of the valve cover that vents excess gas pressure (along with a little bit of oil). This is rerouted back into the intake for emissions purposes. A tiny bit of oil is no big deal, but very much and it will coat the intercooler, lowering efficiency.

If the smoke is blueish then is likely bad valve seals or a bad PCV valve (pressure in crankcase is being released thru the crank vent => intake => out your open BOV).

A good Ideal (and one of the "free mods") is to disconnect the VC breather from the intake (cap the nipple) and wash out your SMIC with mineral spirits. Not only will your FMIC be more efficient.. but you'll no longer be sucking in oil into your intake (well the PCV will still let it but you can eliminate that too via a catch can).

soo i should plug the nipple on the valve cover? i havnt yet put the dump tube back on , but when i do ill post what happens...but i should plug the vc thingy for good?, or just when i wash the smic? thanks

No.. don't plug the VC nipple as you want to release the pressure from the crankcase.. just not into your intake :thumb:

Yeah, cap the nipple on the intake snorkel, but not the one on the valve cover. I put a small fram carb fuel filter on the end of the hose to keep out any dust. It also catches most of the oil instead of dripping it on the tranny. Cost: ~$3
