So I already have my punishment racing o2 housing (mvs package recirculating), but I am not quite ready to go external. Me being impatient and wanting to put my exhaust on right now I ordered the cheapest o2 housing I could find so my punishment downpipe could go on. I miss having good sounding car and my catback just isn't cutting it. The cheapest one I found was a godspeed o2 housing on ebay. Now on my old gst I had a couple ebay o2 housings and they worked out great. Well I noticed right away this ones flanges are warped and it seems to have rust or something in the recirculation tube. Mainly I'm wondering is it usable like this? It won't be on the car more than a couple months at absolute most.

If you can clean up those flanges you'll be fine. Call up a machine shop and they should be able to mill it flat for cheap. It should only take about 5 min of labor. Don't worry about that rust.

Man that thing looks like a$$, i think its ready to go in the scrap bin LOL, i would have gone with the megan its still cheap but a better quality item and can be re sold where as this....... No answer haha

A few months wont hurt just be carefull it dont break on you

Okay cool, I just wanted to keep it real cheap. The punishment package was a bit pricey so I thought the temporary one should be cheap. I wasn't really worried about it, more surprised that it was on a new part. Thanks for the reply :)

Stick a magnet to it, you never know it might just be chromed steel and thats why the rust is there

I know, but I wasn't expecting a piece of art from ebay. Like I said I was trying to be super cheap since I already have a really good one. This one is only gonna be used with the t25 so I can put my exhaust on. I have a s16g off the car. It just needs to be converted to run a external gate so I can put my punishment o2 housing and tial wastegate on.

I hear ya and im only messing around buddy, hope it all works out with the new turbo

At least you caught it early. I order one from 4G63Built (aka Slowboy) which looks EXACTLY like this one. Install was a nightmare, bolts it came with were too big, stud too small, didn't fit correctly. Looked at the flange, to my naked eye looks fine, really should've used a flat edge. Got it worked out and on. Start car, car sounds like ass, exhaust leak.
Pull the damn thing buy the correct bolts and try again. Car sounds better and I think all is well until I notice I'm not hitting my set boost anymore...ugh. Wait til the next morning and start the car, quickly run my hand around the edges of the housing and can feel air being forced out by one of the smae bolt hole as yours. Pull the damn thing again and the gasket is burned clean through in that area.
I think I mustve not tighted that bolt enough. Put stock gasket on, bolt everything back up and tighten the hell out of that bolt. Start car same shit. I think bad bolts, maybe a better gasket? Pull it...again. Order ARP bolts, FFWD copper embossed gaskets, toss it all together. Result? Same shit at the same place. Finally coming to blame the flange at this point. So I will be pulling this thing, for the like sixth time, to get it milled.
Trust me I would've tossed this thing long ago if I could but the turbo has already been setup for external gate so I'm stuck with this or buy another external o2 housing.

Oh man sorry to hear that. Your experience seems worse than mine. Good luck on getting it fixed.

So everyone I had it machines. It cost me $30. Everything seemed like right after I had that done so it was time to install this $90 chinabay pos. Well come to find out one installed the o2 sensor won't fit. It seems to be hitting a water pipe. Other than that fitment was okay. I now have a nasty exhaust leak up front somewhere I need to find and no front o2 sensor. Now with no front o2 of course I got a cel and I've read that I will get bad mileage from this. Is there anyway around this since I have link v3? I have a 300mi trip in a couple days and would really like to take the dsm but I don't want to get 10mpg the whole way.

You absolutely should NOT run the car without a front O2. The ECU uses the front O2 to control fuel trims in closed loop (almost any time besides WOT). If you have a wideband, you can simulate narrowband in Link to maintain the ECU's control over fuel.

Is it really that bad? I ran my old gst for at least a month without one at one point and don't remember any ill effects.
My only concern is mpg at this point should I stop driving? It's my dd but I have a ford ranger I just don't like driving it. I do have a wideband as well(innovate lc1) it's just not installed at the moment. It also doesn't fit in the o2 sensor hole on the chinabay pos. I have the hole where the o2 sensor would go plugged with the supplied plug from Godspeed so it's not just opened.
