alright here's the deal. i have a chance to go to the junkyard and get a 3" gm maf, the guy told me it would be $10. now i also have the chance to buy a ramchargers.com dsm translator for $100 that is in almost brand new condition, but hasn't been used. it says its a universal setup that can be used on many gm cars and mentions dsm's after it. it doesn't have instruction either which sucks. so, what i'm basically asking, what is it that i need to make this a complete 100% bolt on setup. do i only need the translator and gm maf? please help me asap as i would like to get it all now before i swap my motor. thanks for any help!

btw- i have a 2g gst (97 to be exact)

You'll need the MAF itself, the Translator, and then some means of getting it between the intercooler and the throttle body. People that make their own UICP just get some couplers for the GM-MAF which SBR sells and go from there.

so all i need is the maf-t and the gm maf itself and ill be all set? i remember hearing something about having to splice a wire. whats that about?

Make sure the translator is the newest 2.0 version and not the 1.3.The one wire you splice into 1 of the four wires going to the cam sensor. That is for fine tuning WOT. The translaor usually works in 5% increments. The 2.0 version has the 1 wire to tap into the 3d wire back on the CAS and allows 2% increments under WOT. www.fulthrottlespeed.com and www.fullthrottletech.com can help, they make the translator. i use one in a blow thru position and love it.
