So, I've decided to go with the HKS SSQV blow off valve. Is this all I need to do the install on stock upperintercooler piping and the stock intake?

Stupid question but I just want to be sure.. Thanks.

No, you also need a bible and holy water to put that demon on :D The snap ring is a PITA to get on,especially with a cheap set of snap ring pliers :nono:

+1000000. MAKE SURE that you put some tape (masking tape) on the side of the BOV to protect it when you try to set that C clip in there. Because it is going to take you a few times to get it on there. Like said above, it is a PAIN.

Alright I will be sure to keep that in mind. Thanks

Its all ordered. Now I will just need to figure out how to install it LOL...

Take the four screws out that hold the cover on. Yes, I know there are 8, but you only need to remove every other one to take the out-side cover off. Less then a minute to install snap ring.

It should come with instructions(detailing which screws to remove), mine did. And make sure the snap ring is fully seated in place. After installing mine and takin her for a maiden cruise around the block....POP.....can we say boost leak?!ROFL ..thankfully everything was layin ontop of the engine still. Kinda killed the excitement of a new mod OMG

I've heard it "not recirculated" and it's by far the best sounding BOV for a dsm and I'm sure others on this board with this BOV can confirm. However, my 1G BOV is recirculated and is very audible and loud and I couldn't be more happy with it.

+1 on taking the cover off when you put the snap ring on. I could't do it AT ALL with it on, and it's really simple to remove. Just take out the 4 bolt that are raised more than the others. I don't really know what they sound like without being recirculated, but with mine I'll give it my best shop to type when it sounds like. My boost gauge isn't hooked up yet, so I don't know exact boost. But, at very low boost there's a small whistle. At about 1/2-3/4 boost (probably 6-10psi) it's kind of like "KHOOOO." Then finally at full boost (12psi-ish) it's like "KHOOODAADA."
I haven't driven my car in like a week because it's being 99 converted, but I think that should be right. I hope that helps a little. O yeah, I also have a metal UICP and intake, so that might affect it a little.
Also, mine is still very loud. When I put it on I couldn't understand why people would complain about recirculating being quite, but it could be the UICP too.

The sad thing is, everyone who reads that takes time to try and imitate the sounds besing made.ROFL

HKS...FTW

LOL... Yeah I tried to imitate it. Thanks for the info everyone. My order has been shipped and should be here early next week.

How does the SSQV sound recirculated? Just curious since I have never heard one.

IMO, not that great. Its basically flutters all the time unless your under full boost, then it releases in a single boost. It is also the quietest of all the valves I've used, when recirculated. So if you like it quite & flutter, you'll love this valve :D Now when its not recirculated, I really like the sound. Not much flutter & loud as hell.

Not to say you won't be able to hear it at all but the Greddy Type RS was louder & my personal favourite, the Forge, was the loudest & the best sounding.

Interesting. You can here mine (full hardpipes) from a block away. And I love the way it sounds

That sounds nice to me LOL... I need to get a upper intercooler pipe and hard intake pipe next. Where did you get yours from?

Vented or recirculated? Venting, yes its loud but recirculated its still audiable but quiter then the other aftermarket valves I've run & have buddies with it recirculated as well & theirs is the same. Do you have the HKS recirculate adapter that removes the "dirverters" that the vented inserts have? My setup is all 2.5" short route IC pipes & 4" FP cast aluminum intake. I've yet to hear a recirculated one that I would consider loud, compared to the other valves on the market....

Unless it has something to do with the turbo size/amount of air your flowing. Looks like your still on the T25 & all the ones I've heard have been on much larger turbos. Though if this is the case, I would think it should be the opposite, the more air, the louder it is...

My Pipe kit came with my intercooler setup. SSAC FMIC w/ short route. Nice product for great price. Hey Daren, I saw that you asked about a recirculation adapter for the SSQ, and if it was the one that removed the "diverters". Is there one available where you can retain that peice? Let me know, I'd love to get my greasy 'lil hands on one.:D
