Getting that JMF Shine Back!!

My JMF heatshield has become the victim of a terrible JB Weld incident. Anyway it's also a bit dull too I guess from all the heat cycling of having it for over a year now. I would like to attempt to bring back the shine though and need info on parts needed since I have no experience on polishing/sanding on that level. Watching the infamous JMF SMIM vid I noticed that they go through four stages of polishing/sanding to get the shine. I would also like to do this to my spark plug cover for a nicely matched engine bay. I would rather not spend $35 to have it repolished by JMF to tell you the thruth.

Get some meguiars mag polish and a couple rags and about 20 minutes of labor you will have your self a brand new heat shield

Here ya go buddy!
Use Mothers aluminum mag and wheel polish And a Buffer. get 2 pads, One to apply the polish. The 2nd to buff the finished shield. The best buffer to use would be a 2 speed, 90* type with 2 handles. Not the standard issue orbital.

Should take ya no more then 10 minutes and it will be as shiny as new.

I'm not entirely sure how bad your heatshield is. Depending on its condition, you may want to start off with a higher than normal grit of sandpaper first. Or maybe just skip the sanding altogether and use polish.

There is this stuff that you can get from the Snap-on guy that comes in a Band-Aid box.... It is amazing..I wish i had more infor.. It is some sort of cotton type material with a polish built in.
