Allright i'm getting a new Talon Tsi and it needs a new headgasket. I was just wondering how much work it is and how hard it is to do. I know a lot about these cars but have never had to replace a head gasket and was just wondering about how much down time i'm looking at. :talon:

Down time is dependent on how quickly you "catch on" to the project. With the right tools.... you could do a HG in one evening. (with enough beer and know-how) Anticipate a long struggle doing this project by yourself if you're not comfortable with it or you could save headache and have someone who's familiar with HG replacement look over your shoulder as you work. Honestly you will get VERY aquainted with the process after doing this project.

Most? people have the head decked before replacing the gasket which might take some time if you hand it off to a machine shop.

Good luck!
