Well first i drive a 92 laser fwd turbo, all free mods are done, has 2g pistons and balance shafts removed.
My question is, i just reciently purchased a EPROM ECU cause my factory ECU went out. The EPROM chip is a e742, now what does that mean and can i just put the ECU in my car and be fine or is there anything else i need to do?

What is this chip capable of doing to my car? I am very curious cause i would really like to learn as much as possible about EPROM ECU's and what chips do what?

What is this security code i've been hearing about?

That chip isn't really capable of doing anything to your car besides the stock settings for a 1990 Federal Manual Transmission AWD car.

You have to have you ECU socketed to change the chip in it to do anything different. There are a few companies out there making chips for these cars and they usually have several options. You will just have to check them out and select the one best suited to your goals.
