I been thowing the idea of purchasing a shock for the rear of my 92 Talon. I have been looking at
Day Motor Sports ~ Circle Track Racing Parts
Speedway Motors - Street Rod Parts, Race Parts, Ford Flathead Parts, Sprint and Midget Racing Parts, Pedal Car Parts
They have many shocks that I can fabb to fit the rear of my car. There are 2 problems, how do I chose a rear shock and what will be equal to a front strut? They have shocks from
Afco,Pro,Bilstein,QA1
I am open to any suggestions of this idea.

I'm interested in this project as well. Start a thread on this so we can fish out some suspension gurus to help with the idea.

Here are some of the shocks Rick was linking to.

There are quite a few options which are threaded for the whole body to make coilover setups a breeze.

Here are soem Bilstein units from Speedway. Just search shocks on their site and you'll find a ton of stuff.

The Mustang Bilstein units look like they might be easily adapted to a 1g front too.

Bilstein Street Stock Shocks, 1987-93 Mustang

It would take a few measurements of the stock units for comparison of course.

The rear upper mounts could use a double-shear angle bracket with a bolt passing through a rod end threaded onto the shock for easy installation.

I just ordered the Konis and GC's and I was curious, is there anything special that I need to know about putting this setup together? Such as modifying or buying extra parts? I see that GC sells there own top plates for the front with a pillow bearing and it hascamber and caster adjustments. Any input on this? Thank you.

The difference between a sunroofed and non-sunroof 2G really is night and day !

I've had both with identical setups - even on street tyres there's a noticeable difference, but on race tyres, it really is night and day, there's no comparison.

I can second this. Non sunroof cars are awesome. I miss mine so much. It was unfortunately rolled. But since i swapped the engine to this car its just never been the same. I've been guilted with this feeling that the other car felt so much better driving. My next 2g will be a hard top.
