I recently purchased the 3 pod replacement pillar from ebay, when I got it there was nothing on the back of it to make it fit like the stock one (what can you expect for a $20 ebay knockoff) I was wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with the replacement pillars from www.gaugepods.com and if they actually fit like the stocks ones do?

Thanks
Nick

I have the exact one. I just put a small self-tapping screw to hold it onto the stock one right behind the first guage (where it dips back down before the 2nd opening) and you can't even see it unless you lean forward really far. Painted it black and you can barely tell :thumb: I'd go for it, the guages fit perfect and once it was screwed in it sit nicely in the a-pillar spot.

I looked at that site and it looks very similar to the autometer pod that I have. You set it over the top of the stock pillar for fitment then you drill like 4 holes in them and use the push in connectors like on the picture.

Here is the link: http://www.autometer.com/download_instruction/828d.pdf

Its the same concept, just dirt cheap. I paid $15 shipped for my tri-pillar, and it fits perfectly. One screw, painted over, then drilled a few holes through the stock pillar (so the wiring and stuff can reach the guage) and have had 0 problems with it fitting. Only one issue, my stock a-pillar sucked and had 1 of the 3 clips on it, at the top. $5 and a trip to the junkyard got me a royally scratched one with all the clips

Well if thats the case then I think I will stay with the cheap one I got off ebay then, I only paid $20 and its a full replacement. I dont like the idea of the one just slapping over top of the stock one. I took off the stock one and looked for a place I could install this one, and if you look at the very top there is a hole for a push in, so I think ill just drill a hole to match the hole there and find a nice tan push in and it will look as good as stock :thumb:

Hey thanks for the reply. I read that post that you put up there and it still leaves one question unanswered. One guy said how he had the autometer one and got rid of it because it was a sloppy fit and bought the lotek one and stuck it in place and has been happy with it. Then another guy asked if the lotek had the pushins on the back of the pod like the stock one and that question was left unanswered and am still wondering if anyone knows if the lotek one from www.gaugepods.com has the right fittings on the back of it?

Unless things changed recently, I can tell you the the Lotek pods do NOT have the pushins on the back of their pods either. I'm not sure why the pushins haven't been integrated, but most DSMers either drill them into place or secure them with a good double sided tape such as the one made by 3M.

If you drill, which is what I've done on all of my DSMs thus far, the looks can be enhanced by using...

Thanks alot for all your replys. I figured it was going to come down to having to drill a hole in the pillar. So since thats the case the $20 one I got off ebay will do. Ill take some pics and post them when I get it installed. Hopefully ill get around to it this weekend.

hmm... one other thing. Anyone else have the black and tan interior who has bought these pods? I know for the one I bought off of ebay the tan is slightly different from the stock tan. Haha, might sound ridiculous but im a perfectionist and hate anything less than perfect. So does anyone know if the one from lotek matches the tan to the T or not?
