Ok my question is how many of you install gaskets dry, use copper sealant, or another spray?

Already have one I know what it says but I remember watching the 10min 4g63 build and someone said you idiot your putting the gasket on dry, and I'm just wondering if some people do this for a reason or if he was an idiot.

I put High temp copper spray on my all my gaskets related to the exhaust.

I put hight temp RTV on all gaskets related to either oil or coolant

I do not put anything on the Head Gasket, unless specifically stated by Manufacturer to do it.

I put RTV as a sealant on my J-pipe to Turbo joint.

My preference... I'm sure others have different preferences.

I had the same question and found this thread in a search. I am going to try going dry for my TB gaskets and see how that goes. I used rtv but it still leaks. At work we use red locktite to seal air motors and once it dries it does really good. I don't know how well that would hold up in the harsh environment of an engine bay though.

Dry is ok, that way if you have the throttle body off again you can reuse the gasket.
