Gas tank strap stud broke... Confused now

Hey guys,


So I finally finished up installing a 190 walbro on my FWD. All went well up until the last minute when I was bringing the gas tank back up, the passenger side stud that holds one of the straps snapped... I have no idea what to do and Im not exactly sure if it's safe to drive around with one strap around the gas tank.

If all the work is done, I would weld it back up there an be done with, or try knocking the stud out an replace with a replacement. Maby slide off to the side and drill an tap another hole. There's a couple ideas!!

Just be careful welding around gas. Im guessing 1gs dont have access panel under rear backseat?

You should be fine as long as you don't go offroading or anything. But you should really bolt another strap on there sometime soon

1st gen FWD don't have an access panel as far as I know. The gas tank is also mounted further back on a 1g. Thats the reason 1g awd basically have no trunk space what so ever. I couldn't even fit a good sized piece of luggage back there with the spare and everything in the trunk.

my old 2g spyder was like that i would drop tank and then weld it back way to close for comfort
