Ok, I have a 1993 Hyundai Elantra with a 1993 Sonata 2.0L engine in it... My problem is the power steering pressure hose. The fitting where the hose meets the pump itself keeps leaking.. the hose goes into a round fitting, and it breaks right at the fitting. I'm tired of buying new hoses (At $53 a piece, it's annoying), and was wondering if anyone knew of a fix, or a "performance" part to replace the stock parts with.

The reason I ask this is, Im told it's a common problem with this particular engine setup, and figured maybe some DSM Fanatics would know about it, and possibly how to fix it.

If possible, email responses to me, as it's the quickest way for me to get answers.

Also, just thought of this... Im using the 1.6L engine mounts on the car, and they're kinda weak, and I broke a few of those with the new engine in place. Would that put enough strain on the power steering pressure hose to break it at the banjo? I have the bracket that holds the hose in place, and tight on the right side engine mount.

I know there is a kit that the dealer sells that replaces the washer on the pump end of the P/S line. Mine is leaking the same way - the washer in between the line and the pump has a hole in it that allows fluid to seep.

It's also great that it's positioned DIRECTLY above the alternator, so it takes that with it after it leaks for awhile.

It's quite common. Mine leaked, I replaced the o-rings, and it's leaking again. It's already ruined one alternator already.

Yeah, I've got a used pump and alternator from DSMTrader going in for that very reason.

All well. Still all about the DSM love.

The line itself keeps breaking.. right where the metal hose meets the banjo fitting. They seem to ALL be leaking from right there. I DID however have it leak a few times from the O-Rings, but I replaced those with some nice, thick silicone ones, and that hasnt happened since.

The hose.. I dont get it.. it's like they keep breaking... I dont drive the car hard, even.

There's like a tiny weld at that point where the pressure line meets the fitting, and it blows the weld apart. I really love the car, I love how it runs, but I always have some sort of lil problem like this, and it's getting annoying/expensive. Those hoses only have a 30 day warranty, and Im assuming its for this reason, too.

Thanks for the help so far, guys.

Oh.. about the Alternator.. ya, I feel you guys there. I been through a few of them, too due to these leaks. A few from O-Rings, and a few from this banjo fitting coming apart.
