So, I got around to getting the engine together. Car starts, great!
On attempt to driving it though, I noticed that the gears wouldn't go in. Duh. Forgot to adjust the clutch rod. So I adjusted it according to Jack's videos. Gears go in pretty well now, so that's a plus.
Now, the clutch engages way to quickly. In first gear, as well as reverse, a slight raise of the clutch from the floor gets the car going. I tested to see if it was dragging by putting it in first, clutch to the floor, and revving... Well to my disappointment the car inched forward.
I have the South Bend Clutch DSM SS-X Clutch Combo, with a ACT streetlight.
So, I was thinking maybe the flywheel wasn't stepped correctly. ( Never checked it
) Time to remove the tranny!
So now it's off, and I notice the input shaft housing has skid marks (
)
So took off the bearing, and it actually feels somewhat warped on one side. Not too much, but noticeable running your finger over it.
Would this cause my clutch issues? And also, would it be reasonable to try smoothing it out with 600 grit?
