So when I owned my '92 Talon ES (It was a POS and got sold a couple days ago) it was being a very confusing and difficult car, although that's typical for a 4g63.
Now onto the funny issue. I'll start from the very beginning. So I was driving home from school one day and all of a sudden the first two gears didnt work so I took the lowest gear I could find and went with it, it had so much pressure that it broke a weld a couple feet after the cat on the exhaust, so I pull into a random driveway, look under the hood, notice the clutch slave cylinder looked kinda funky, so I left it there for about an hour and finally drove it home...in first gear only. (my house was only 3 blocks away) So a friend and I bleed the clutch, that didnt work, so we thought it might have been the clutch master cylinder, so we replaced that, didn't help, thought WTF. Then we had it towed to my Dad's shop and we thought of three possible problems...
1: Defective master cylinder
2: Defective slave cylinder (It was new, replaced before this occured)
3: Collapsed clutch "fingers"
So I was hoping to god it wasn't the actual clutch so we took a look at the slave cylinder. You're going to think I'm completely stupid but the tranny was replaced, it came from a '91, we bought the slave cylinder from a '92. So we took the slave cylinder off and the shift fork was fine and had the right amount of play so we put the slave cylinder on the other side of the flange type thing, bolted it on, started it up, and it shifted perfect.
Clutch master cylinder - $70
1 pint of brake fluid - $4
Kicking the front bumper of a DSM after it angers you - Priceless
