Rewired walboro 255 fuel pump and Aeromotive fpr and aftermarket fuel lines.

When did this happen? Car was running strong, shut off motor and 10 minutes later started it up again, sputtered and slowly died. Cranks over, but no start afterwards.

What have I tried? Bought a new relay, fuel pump fuse is okay and I've turned on the fuel pump manually and it ran. I can also hear it running while trying to start the car.. I am not showing any fuel pressure and not getting fuel to the fuel rail.

I have half a quarter of fuel left. What the heck is wrong?

Thanks you mjcanada.. I called sx performance regarding the specific filter I have, I was told I have a stainless steel element filter that's reusable, the filter element can be removed and cleaned.. but I was told those stainless steel elements normally do not completely clogged up especially suddenly like it did to me.. now with the milky looking gas that poured out of the filter when I removed, is that normal? It can't be the filter element breaking down inside of the filter.

Milky looking gas? Out of the filter? Not normal, If its truly an ss element it wouldn't break down.

My first thoughts were either there was water in my gas or the fuel pump sock was beginning to break down. When I get out of the shop today I will go and see if I can take apart that filter and post pictures of what the inside looks like.

Quick question, a day before this happened I drained my fuel from the tank through the fuel pump hole.. It was not until recently I learned about the AWD saddlebag shaped fuel tank.. If I were to drain the fuel from the passenger side saddle bag through the fuel pump hole, will the driver side of it also be drained or will there still be fuel sitting in there? thank you

Kev, find out tonight what size wrench will fit. AEM offers their rails pre-tapped to 6an or 9/16x18" The only fittings I can find are 6an to 9/16, so if you really are running 10an line, it's most likely reducing to 6an at the rail, eliminating any potential benefit.

As for the filter, if it's ss element, yeah it's not breaking down. However, it's possible that the previous owner put in a paper element replacement. Like tech support mentioned, it's odd how it clogged up so suddenly...they are assuming it's ss. Rip that sucker open and find out - paper or ss.

Milky liquid in the fuel is a mind bender for sure...might be a tough one to tackle. Google points to water and ethanol, but who knows man...maybe water got in the tank somehow?

I did some research and it seems as if people buy that fuel filter which has a 10AN inlet/outlet (lessens pressure drop somehow) and use an adapter to fit 6 or 8AN to it I'm sure that's what's going on with my setup.

First thing I'm doing when I get home in an hour is ripping the filter apart and see what I've got going on and maybe I can catch a picture of that milky stuff, either way I'll be posting pictures tonight.

I do not use ethanol but I wondered whether or not the previous owner had used ethanol before or something.. I have seen milky gas like that that had water mixed in with it, but I have never seen it in a filter before.

So it's not a stainless steel element must have been replaced before.. I can't exactly see anything wrong

Yeah, filter looks ok. Not sure what to say about that milky shit in your fuel, but either way, you need to fix that sending unit.

We know (don't we?) that you have 10an lines and that explains the rubber hose at the pump. We also know the pump and o-ring fit into a bored out 8an fitting and 10an is probably too big for a proper seal. So here are my suggestions:

EDIT: Actually, this should work just fine

and bore out the 8an reducer to fit the nose of the pump into.

AN bulkheads (for fuel cells and such) typically come with teflon washers, so perhaps you should use these instead of the o-rings or use both...

from what I've read, teflon will not disolve in gasoline or e85 so :thumb:

Sending unit is my main priority right now. And I'm not too sure about the 10an. I'll look tonight I'm ready to start it up tonight, try to at least. I'm not to sure about the rubber hose on the pump though

Well, if the 7/8 and 11/16 wrench didn't fit AND the filter is 10an...it's most likely 10an.

I'm not to sure about the rubber hose on the pump though

You'll be removing that rubber hose completely and using the bored out 8an reducer to fit the pump into, like so:
Fuel pump runs, but no fuel pressure? #24

Which reminds me...you'll probably need the original oem spacer and o-ring :hmm:

I'll search around and see if the oem parts are necessary.. GOOD NEWS! Car started and ran fine with no leaks...Yet. Only 2 things, car stumbles a little at idle and wants to cut off after letting off the gas and my fuel pressure guage isn't working.. I'll look into it some more in the morning..
