Probably a dumb question, thats why im posting this in the newb forum LOL. Wondering if anyone has ran there feed wire directly to the back of the alternator instead of to the battery?

If your wire from the alternator to the battery is correctly sized then you shouldn't need to go directly to the alternator. In addition while your starting the alternator isn't doing anything so if there is a voltage drop it's working against you while cranking.

Well the way I brought the wire through the firewall on the drivers side its right in front of the alternator.( I have the Jays Racing alternator relocation kit.) Once the car is running is what were all worried about not while cranking right? As long as we have battery voltage to the alt. we have it to the fuel pump during cranking.

The only other issue is fusing it. Your should have a fuse inline before the wire is long enough to short out on anything but that might be difficult to route and still be able to reach. Don't use the bladed ATC fuse unless you find a really good fuse holder. I know more than one person who melted the typical ones available from too much resistance in the crimp and contacts.

So what style and amp fuse should I get to run the 10 gauge wire right off the back of the alternator?
