I have a 93 1.8L eclipse new fuel pump and battery,
It will crank but not fire, I took num 1 plug out put a screwdriver Into it and smacked it off the head and there was no spark. But also u don't hear the fuel pp kick in when u turn the key, I am having a hard time finding a new fuel pump relay as I believe that this is my issue
Any other ideas?

Well, on the 4g63's you don't get fuel unless the car is cranking, so you shouldn't hear it "prime" before you crank. I'm not sure about the 4g37's doing this or not.

"put a screwdriver into it and SMACKED it off the head". Can you clarify this? I don't think you are checking for spark correctly.

No spark could be caused by a bad coil pack, bad power transistor, bad wires, bad plugs, etc. Pull the plug out of the head but leave it connected to the wire connected to the coil pack. Hold the plug against something metal, like the chassis or valve cover, and have someone crank the car over for you. You should be able to see the spark. Which plugs are you using? Check the gap on them and gap to .033-.038 for a N/A.

Huh? Please explain this part.

The MPI relay is in the dash by the ECU, but the ECU won't turn the fuel pump side of the relay on, unless the ECU sees a tach signal from the engine.

We smaked it off the valve cover it was still connected to the coil pack, and my aunt was cranking it and still no spark I thought maybe the relay went out since I can't hear it prime, the car I got for 300 bucks my aunt was tired of messing with it.

My aunt said she was driving it and it just died one day and would not roll back over. Idk if this info will help any

My next guess was the coils

Smacking the spark plugs does not release the spark, it will probably only break something. While cranking the engine you need the plug constantly grounded or you will miss the moment when the voltage is sent to the plug.

Ps. If the engine doesn't turn over you won't get spark or fuel pump.

Ok
Any idea where y problem is? It will not roll over it cranks but will not start

I'm not snaking the plugs I put a screw driver into num 1 wire and smacked it off the valve cover to see if there was a electrical current while trying to roll the motor over

Does the distributor turn when you crank it?

Not sure I would have to check that, where is the distributed located on it? I know nothing about the DSM cars I'm a cavalier and Honda person but it was two good a deal to pass up

It is located at the other end of the plug wires :p

Have you verified the timing belt is good? If it was running and died on her, the timing belt could have gone. It will turn over all day but not start. Since it is a 1.8, you can just replace the belt and motor on since it is not an interference engine. Just take off the plastic cover on the top right side of the motor (drivers side)and look to see if it moves when the motor is cranked.

You can't check for spark that way; you would have to hold the screwdriver a few millimeters away from the valve cover and watch for spark while someone cranks it.

What do the spark plug wires connect to at the opposite end from the spark plug?

I'll check both distributer and timming belt on my next day off work

Ok she said it putted to a stop but I still feel the problem lies in the ignition

Just a thought, but you may want to have an experienced mechanic help you in your diagnosis. Not to be offensive, but if you don't know how to find a distributor on any vehicle, you probably won't take much away from a forum discussion. Hey, we all started somewhere. Maybe someone on the boards who is close by would volunteer some time and knowledge and get you headed in the right direction. Just remember, you need air, fuel, and spark, and you need them all in the right place at the right time for an engine to run. Wet spark plugs = getting fuel. Screwdriver in the end of a spark plug wire and held approx 1/4" over the valve cover - if it sends a spark to the valve cover when cranking, you have fire. Air comes automatically unless the throttle body is siezed or you have a serious restriction. Good luck.

Some cars have the distributer hidden under stuff. I've only been under hood of it once and that was to take the battery out for my aunt. Like I said I have a cavalier that I've done work to for 3 yrs now and just this week installed the header back exhaust

So you got underneath it to change the battery? What battery was that?

The best way to find out if you have spark or if its a fuel problemis to spray a little carb cleaner or starting fluid in the intake and if it stars then turns off then you do have spark and it is a fuel problem if it still dont start then you have no spark and need to go to the next step
