Fuel Pump Prob. Kicks on when car is shut off!?!

I got a 95 GS-T...stock fuel pump. I was having a conversation with a friend as i stood next to my car today and while i was doing so the fuel pump kicked on for about 10-20 seconds then shut off. It did this again about 10 mins later.
Ignition was not on and keys werent even in car. Any thoughts?

Do you know if the fuel pump was ever re-wired (its a popular mod)? Sounds like somebody tapped the wrong wire. Hopefully its something stupid like that and not a big deal.

Fuel pump has never been rewired.

so your saying that this car turned on and off by itself? this doesn't sound like a FP problem to me... But maybe some chipmunks under your car hotwiring it

Umm...i never said anything about my car turning itself on and off....so...?? My fuel pump is kicking on while my car is turned off...not the car...think before you speak, Danielson....

my 95 talon tsi does the same thing. it's like it has something running in the back end. It has done this everysince I've had it 2yrs. I thought it was releasing pressure from the tank or something.

Have you tryed the obvious...testing/replacing fuel pump relay?
