This is the 2nd time this has happened, and just need to know if I'm thinking the right thing. So I filled my tank and did the normal thing everyone does and filled it beyond the stop point. So from there, I went to an appointment and when I got out, I noticed a big puddle of gas infront of the rear passenger tire. Is this possibly the filler neck/ tank seals just need to be replaced due to age? Or something else? Again, this is the 2nd time it's happened, and the 1st time, happened the same way with filling the tank.
Thanks.

It could be the hose dry rottening or the hose clamp has lossen up. Or you over filled it and it's coming out of the vent tube. The best way is to climb under it and follow the fuel stains until you find something wrong. Normally if it dont feel right it's proably not.

I looked up under it the first time and couldn't find anything conclusive due to how dirty everything was. I ended up pressure washing everything under the rear of the car that day but still couldn't find anything. However, the leak stopped on it's own the first time, before I even took the closer look (and wash). I'm gonna try to look at it later after work, had to grab the wife's car, didn't want something wrong to happen to it while driving.

Ok I had a old 77 nova and a 83 monte carlo that did the same the nova was the vent tube and the monte was the cracked filler tube just pass the clamp. the worst case senerio is u have a crack in your gas tank. But thats not normal that high in the tank. If I'm correct your car should have a metal tank. Maybe just maybe the straps rubbed threw the tank or if there was a lot dirt maybe rust out under the straps. Then there's a possiblity that the o-ring that seals the fuel regulator/pump has finally worn out. Everything but the tank are cheap fix's The bad thing is you just filled it up. I hope you feel strong.

Yeah, I was thinking that too somewhat. I hope the tank is good, cause I don't want to drain it and waste the gas, but I don't feel like dropping it while full either. Definately not feeling strong right now ;)
