Hello DSM community, last weekend I took the tank out and resurfaced it and painted it.

Car is misfiring and I was under the impression it's because it was having leaks from the tank and from the evap lines so I took off 2 patches on the outer edge and fixed it, installed it all back to exactly how it was and no leaks from the tank but fuel is still leaking out of an evap hose that doesn't seem to connect to anything (2nd picture for reference) added pictures of those components not sure what they are called (3rd pic). I don't know if it's because it has an aftermarket fuel pump and might be too much for the stock system, or if it's somehow wired wrong and pressurizing the tank and sending fuel through the evap lines. Might also be the FPR since there isn't one on the fuel rail and it's a 98, looks like something aftermarket right near the fuel filter (rear passenger side) so I don't know if that's the FPR or not, I can provide pictures or further detail if needed.

I don't know fuel systems but I'd love to learn, everything on the car I've done myself, it started with a turbocharged engine but I've since deleted everything turbo related and put in a stock engine but I don't know if the fuel system has been changed or modified to run a turbocharged engine like having the FPR on the return line or something, Chiltons doesn't seem to have any information I need, the fuel tank didn't even match the one in the book stated "1998 na" since the book only goes to 98 but my car is a 98 so I don't understand, I'll include the Chilton picture of the tank and what my tank looks like. Help with diagrams would be amazing as well, I saw a GST gas tank that looked exactly like mine so if anyone could verify what gas tank I have that would be a big help too, I'm at wits end and I don't know what to do to attempt to make it run without leaking fuel or misfiring.

Thank you for reading have a great weekend

Are emissions inspections necessary for your vehicle? I'd never recommend something illegal, but where it's "legal" I'd just completely get rid of the EVAP system. I never had a 2g with the system functional minus the one daily early on.

The component you pictured is the leak detection pump. It shouldn't leak fluid from the unit itself nor the lines. That means the system is clogged or the hoses are rotten and leaky. You can replace most of the system still but it may be best to get rid of it. Only if it's passable and you're comfortable with that though.

Yes I'd love to delete it all, no emissions in VT. I plan to do EGR delete as well later on which seems easier with a block off plate but this is the pressing matter, is it an issue if my FPR is next to my fuel pump? (maybe on the return line, unsure) also my fuel pump is a high flow AEM pump, would that cause anything? The FPR isn't on my fuel rail like I think it was supposed to before the previous owner converted it to run a turbo, im trying to revert all that, new to me engine and all so if that might help that would be good to know. I want to make sure the fuel system is sorted before jumping into the Evap delete, plus I don't know what the FPR looks like exactly but I think that's what it is, I'll show a picture because I'm unsure, I'd appreciate if you could help me verify. As for deleting the evap system the evap canister is where I'm worried about since it's in the gas tank (diagram pic included) and I don't know how to disable all that, I'd love more simplicity in this car and make it actually run correctly, compression tests came back good and fuel seems to be the only obvious thing (the bottom o2 sensor is missing too) thank you for replying and the advice it is greatly appreciated

Leave that big hunk in the tank. Just take the lines off of it. That large thing is just an air canister and doesn't contain fuel. It's a separate entity from the fuel tank. If you want to remove it you can make a block off plate out of sheet metal like I did, but it's easier to just leave it and take the lines off.

Ok so the lines to the 3 ports coming off the evap canister should be plugged off? and the canister should just be left as is without the ports connected since it's not connected to the tank? A lot of fuel was in the evap canister and in the evap emission ventilation solenoid, ran air through the evap canister and fuel+charcoal came out for a bit but then it wouldn't come out anymore so I might have cleared blockage but maybe not, still want to delete it even if it's a soft delete

Is there a way I should ventilate the tank somehow to avoid the tank being over pressured or is it ok?

I also still might have issues with the fuel pressure regulator I've heard that can cause problems but I'm clueless with this I really appreciate your insight and your responses!
