getting new injectors -

1995gsx has stock 450cc in it

Can I put 550 without doing anything to the computer
& peak and hold low impedence, is that what the stock ones are?
Disk over ball? Thanks guys!

No the Computer thinks it know how big the injectors are and would cause the car to run very rich with 550s. You have to either change the computers software or lie about how much air is entering so the ECU uses a shorter injector pulse with the larger injectors netting you the same amount of fuel as it would have stock.

They are low impedance injectors on the turbo cars. Peak and Hold is a style of injector driver not of the injectors themselves. Many places will use the terms interchangeably but it not accurate. The turbo DSM actually use low impedance injectors with a saturated injector driver.

Disk over ball? Thanks guys!

Doesn't really matter that much.

Ok so I've been looking all over other then call the dealer where could I find a set of 450cv stock injectors - or is that impossible LOL

Thanks
Jake

google used car parts

the first result is an online, nation-wide junk yard. i got a MAF for my MR2 from there.

hook up an a/f meter
buy an adjustable resistor at radio shack, and put this in your signal line for your maf.
adjust the resistance until it registers a 'like stock' a/f ratio.

I would highly no recommend this method. Get a logger and SAFC or SAFC2 and if at all possible a wideband would be ideal.

Check the classifieds, eBay, DSMTrader, any of those will have multiple people parting out cars or selling stock 450cc injectors for cheap.

when the above poster mentioned 'lie about the air', you can do this for super cheap.

hook up an a/f meter
buy an adjustable resistor at radio shack, and put this in your signal line for your maf.
adjust the resistance until it registers a 'like stock' a/f ratio.

or just get an safc.

You can't put a resistor in the MAF signal line. The signal is a pulse train where the frequency varies in proportion to the airflow. That's why the loggers call it MAF Hz.

Putting a resistor into the barometric pressure or intake air temp sensors from the MAF won't correct for 550cc injectors.

Not really looking for the cheap way out- just want to do it right the first time so I don't have to do it again 2weeks down the line-

And I've found used injectors but ya don't know what ya getting- no one makes 450cc new? Every other size but that

okay, im wrong. ive used it on the VW deal, thought it might work in a similer fashion. i have an SAFC, but am always looking for cheaper options.

You'll want to store all of what you know from your VW days until you learn how DSM work. We all have experience with other cars that don't always work the same way and that knowledge can often lead us astray if we don't remember to question it when dealing with something new.

First check to see if you have a EPROM ECU in your 95. That was the only 2G year that came with any. If you do then you can get a chip made or get DSMLink and start off right.

I assume your missing injectors now?

I have a bad injector, so I can get one injector for $80referb or a set which is why I asked about computer stuff - I haven't researched what ecu is in there now easy way to check if it's the eprom?

Thanks
Jake

You can usually find a whole set of 2G 450cc injectors for about $40 in the classifieds.
They are likely to be just a good as the 3 working ones you have now.

Here's a start on your research.

Thanks Steve ! You've been a big help-
I'm sure I will be picking your brain in the future!

Thanks
