I love taking my eclipse out to the track eventhough it is not powerful and the suspension is completely stock. During a hard run in which I had a 3/4 tank of gas and was in 2nd the entire time, during some hard corners my car would like rev limit me at 4,000 RPM's and lower and higher depending on how hard the corners were. I was wondering if this was fuel related or something like oil starvation. I don't want to keep doing this if I am going to kill my motor but it is soooo fun!! Please help me out.

Same reason it does any other time. You're drawing in more air than the ECU says the fuel system can keep up with. So, instead of incinerating a piston with too little gas, it just shuts fuel and spark off.

It may sound funny, but a battery that is not properly tied down or secured can actually make your car die or seem to cut out and instantly come back on when cornering hard or accelerating hard. I had a friend with a 1st gen that had his battery "roaming" free. His engine would cut out when he accelerated hard or cornered hard. So I told him about it, he secured it and it fixed his problem :thumb:

Now I have an Optima battery, but it is not tied down that great(bungee cords) cause it still moves alot but they allow me on the track with it. I don't get why my car would be reading too much air coming in because in some corners I am not fully on the pedal. If I only use third gear it doesn't do it except on the really hard corners but I am still at a low RPM. Is there any way to stop this from happening. Thanks for the help guys, I just wish I could get this fixed some way so I could actually go all out.

I had the same problem at a corner that I like to take fast near my house. It actually seems more sudden than even fuel cut. Also, it'll do it @ 10 psi (not full boost) during that hard cornering. And like you said - even at 3/4 tank of gas.

I hope the 2g MAS I'm going to install will help - although I suspect other than fuel cut.

Do you have any more information about the 'battery cut' theory?

Yeah, I've had a similar problem as well. I spoke with my local performance shop and they told me due to the "poorly" designed fuel tank when cornering hard the fuel will pool up at one side of the tank. Their suggested fix: Either install a second fuel pump or keep the tank more than half-full at all times.

Get a nice racing feul cell. they have foam int here that keeps the feul from moving around all over the place and prevents the cutting as you stated above. We had the same problem in our miata last year.

My eclipse is going to need some reconditioning before I can put it on the road for my girl so I won't be using it for a while. On the other hand, I just came home with a 1999 10th AE miata!!! Happy Happy Joy Joy!!!!
