first off, i did a search and came up with a few threads, but no one answered the real question... so here goes...

hello, got all my belts replaced today, including the timing belt. i also asked the mech about this rubbing sound in the left front of the car when going on the highway whenever the steering is turned any degree to the right. this sound started a year or so ago when i slid the front left wheel into the curb and had to get the wheel and control arms replaced.

the mech said the wheel bearing is bad. sounds very reasonable... what was unreasonable was that he wanted $369 to replace the bearing! i found replacement bearings on the web for about $45! has anyone changed the bearing themselves before? the manual i have is not very clear. if someone could list a set of tools required, that would be good. i have a lot of tools, but i certainly don't have a big bearing puller... what else might i need? a list of instructions would be good too.

i read on threads that you can go to autozone? they sell just the sealed bearing?

thanks in advance.

the part itself will run u close $160 and the HUB ASSEMBLY can only be bought at the dealership. Theres no races and bearings that can be pressed on, you'll be sorry if u do try and go taht route, and its best to do both sides. it makes a world of a difference once there replaced much better ride quality. PM if u need me to explain installation:thumb:
good luck

once the rotor and back plate are pulled away and u have all the bolts out of the steering knuckle the hub should slide out, i used a dowel and a hand sledge it eventually came out. wasn't a hard job def not worth $369... i would tell that mech to shit in his hat if he was wearing one
