Front & Rear Cover assembly question

I'm installing the front cover on my new 2.4 block I have the gasket that goes there, my question is do you use any type of silicone as well to keep it from leaking oil. Same goes for the rear main?

What gastket are you talking about? The seal for the crank, or the actual gastet for the mating surfaces of the front case and rear main. The front and rear main seals, along with the rest of the rubber seals just need a little oil around the lip. As far as the gaskets, use some copper spray. They dont need rtv.

use copper spray and only a couple dabs of silicone just to hold the gaskets in place

There is no gasket for the rear main cover on 7-bolts (including the 4G64) and silicone/RTV must be used.

This is on a 2.4 6 bolt there are paper gaskets that mate the cover to the block. I know how to install the seals just wanting to know about the case to the block. So copper spray is the best solution for these. Should i spray both sides of with copper spray or just the block side?

I used no copper spray on any of the lower gaskets. 5k and not a leak. I did however use a small amount of rtv along with paper gasket on the seals housing to block. I wanna say it was in the chiltons manual

I copper sprayed all the gaskets. Torqued to factory specs and RTV ONLY the back of the seals lightly.
