Hey could you guys pshop a front mount in my front bumper that fills a good amount of the front opening? I did a quick ms paint chop but it turned out crappy and wasnt big enough. I want one that requires me to take out the fog lights which is extra chopping, but oh well... so please can you chop a larger fmic in there?

That looks amazing, thank you so much, but now can you black out my headlights like the 2gb headlights instead of my annoying 2ga lights?

awesome that looks really good... if you want to change something or just start screwin with my car by all means chop away. Everyone else on this section always asks for rims, cf hoods, and lowering springs, but i have all 3 already, so be creative LOL. I'm interested in cutting vents into my front bumper to help cool the radiator with the fmic thats going on in about a month, so maybe you can chop up my bumper with ideas for vent location :thumb:

edit** here are some more pics to screw with if you wish

The wheels are some no name brand like excel or something, 17x7, were originally white, I bought them off of a vdub and got them painted black and i cant see the center emblem anymore so I have no idea what brand they are. Suprisingly the rims hold up pretty good, are hard as hell to bend, and are fairly light. The tires on there are kumho ectsa 711's, 205/40/17, one of the cheapest wheel setups known to man, but its better than the stockers right?

See, bro, that's what I love about DSMers.

:thumb:

Who cares if it's cheap - as long as it looks good and performs well.

Still looks damn great to me. :D

yo bro I love your car... not even joking its my backround on my laptop as we speak! If I had an eclipse thats exactly what i would do to my car. But since i have a talooooon I went with a similar black/red setup. Do you really think the hood pins would change the appearance at all?

Maybe not the appearance that much but it will save you a shitton of money when it flys up and cracks your window your hood and dents your roof.

Car looks good.

Yea i was contemplating getting pins for it, but it would throw off the whole color scheme unelss i could get them adonized black or something... plus i would hate having to cut a hole in my perfectly new hood. I put hood pins on the new hood i got for my camaro not too long ago, but dont know if I want to risk drilling holes through the cf. thanks for the compliments though guys :thumb:

LOL, i say hood pins are worth it, few months ago i went down the road and my nice new cf hood flew up and busted the windshield and i almost ran off the road, and the brand new cf hood is cracked now too, or atleast the gel coast is :(

Dude thanks alot ! I really mean that and yes your car is equally as sweet man. that talon front end is just mean lookin :talon: i love it and about the pins first of all i kinda like the look of em :coy: LOL haha but VERY most important its just the best thing for safty i use the pins AND the latch still. If you want a little write up on how installed mine then i can get that for you because i do not want to see another "My hood flew up thread" especially on a ride like yours ! :thumb: anyways great work on the car so far / good taste haha LOL stay safe . :dsm: :talon: :laser:

Although there are undoubtedly many, many, many of us DSMers and other tuners out there w/o hood pins who've done just fine with their CF hoods daily-driven at highway speeds, I would say that for the minimal investment it costs - and the minimal visual artifact (if one doesn't like the look) - keeping in mind the not uncommon report of these types of aftermarket hoods flying up and doing extreme damage, it's worth the modification cost and trouble just for peace-of-mind.

:thumb:

Besides, I think your car would look hot with them - it will give your car an even more "industrial" and hard-core feel, to match the wheels.

Sweet!

yea man i will get the pics soon im just super tired form this weekend but i will soon. :thumb: :dsm:

Ok , first all im saying is for the carbon fiber use a drill and only a drill. no dremmels or anything the drill bit will shave cut and do what ever to teh CF. Its how i did it. If you think you will have better luck someother way go ahead and try but i used a drill for the pins and the hood vent I cut out vent.

Ok her ein teh first and 2ND pic is where i drilled to mount my "pin holder" the good thing about drilling for them here is you can put some sort of little pipe/thicker screw driver in there and move the frame piece around a very little bit to make it flat and have the pin holders sit exactly upright.

after those are mounted and upright put a little square piece of tape on the top of the pin holders ( PIC 3 ) and set the hood down on them. the tape should transfer to the underside of the hood.

Now that the Tapes there get out the drill. look at the 4TH pic here and see the black line ? YES ok thats the way the hood is angled on the under side obviously. ( (PIC 5) My hood has a fiberglass under side that stuck down alittle farther from the actual CarbonFiber ) If yours does to then right now were only drilling through the first layer. Now look at 3rd pic again....See the Green line ? that was my first instinct to drill that way but if you look you will see for the hood pins to go through that hole they will actually have to be angled at about 65 degrees SOOO were going to drill along the RED line. drill the hole though the first layer on both sides so that when the hood is closed now the pin holders easily go through there and touch the actual Carbon Fiber layer.

Just do the same thing wiht the tape here it will transfer to the undersided of the CF and again rememebr the pins are going straight up. after that just install the rest of the kit and you should be set. this is what worked for me no problems and i hope it does for you i know VFAQ had a write up also but hey i did it this way and it worked. anything else just post. good luck :thumb:

EclipseTrbo420A you look kinda like Eminem. :D
LOL RICEKILLER just what i need floatin around here LOL what did you think of the write up ? And eminem is ok but thats music isnt really my cup of tea, haha Shhh with the eminem lookalike thing LOL! and DSMMYTH said i look like Ben Roethlisberger

Awesome that helps a lot! Any suggestions on how to prevent the hood from cracking while wobbling under high speeds (i tend to cruise at around 90-110) for my daily highway driving :shhh:? My camaro hood wobbled so much it dented the metal circles screwed to the hood and actually dented the actual hood around the pins. Im afraid with this lightweight and fragile cf that instead of denting its just gonna crack. Any particular type/shape pin that might help prevent this or similar problems?

Huh? I thought that was chicken scratch.

Eminem > Ben Roethlisberger. Word up.

ROFL

I meant could you understand it for what it is , a super quick write up.

and Iboostdyou the pins are an extra safety precaution does the hood wobble now ? the hood pins are there to catch it if it does fly up... keep the latch and you will be fine . :dsm:
