Freshly Painted, now to the wheels...

Haha. Ok. We'll see what happens first then, me saving up $700 for a setup, or you saving up for new coilovers.

Paint looks great! especially for doing it in a garage! I like the charcoal metallic or black with polished lip. Whatever you choose do a high gloss to match that new paint.

Right on! I wish I could afford (or want to spend the money on) a wheel with a polished lip. Just don't want to sink much more money into it. I know lowering it will be costly, but since my wheels now aren't bent or anything, I don't think replacing is an option. I do like the charcoal metallic idea still, and something about gold sounds good too.

Haven't gotten around to painting my wheels yet, but here's some pictures with the car lowered on springs. I will probably be getting a coilover setup, unless I can find a good deal on here for some tokico and springs.

Great job on painting! Especially considering it was your first one ever.

I feel the same way. I'm trying to figure out a way to mask it off so I can do gold and silver, since there is no lip. There are no sharp edges to make clean lines.

If i understand correctly you want to mask off the center of each wheel, right?
Jack up the car, put it on jack stands. Get a pencil, masking tape, razor blade, and somthing for your arm to rest on (like a bucket maybe). Put tape in the area you want to end the color. Grab a pencil and set up the bucket upside-down next to the wheel. While you turn the wheel by hand, put the pencil on the tape (with your arm/elbow resting on the bucket so it's a bit more steady) and it will draw a nice circle that you can cut out with a razor blade. Same tecnique can be used to make lines like the red circle that is on the wheels now.

Metallic gray will look good for the wheels, make red circles (like ones that are there now) same color as the car. Just an oppinion.

Very nice!

I know it was awhile since you last painted, but do you happen to remember how many gallons the compressor had?

I think it was a 25 gallon. Even when the compressor kicked on it still had enough pressure to keep spraying until I was done with a coat on half the car. I would let it build up and then continue. I didn't let it hold me back on time.

@91-GS Thanks! The red ring on these wheels are actually part of the center cap. I think I'm going to do a glossy metallic black with gold calipers.

My cousin sent me the lower springs he's had for YEARS and never installed them. They look like generic ones, but supposedly they are Eibach. I don't think they are since all the springs looked pretty much the same. We didn't even use the sleeves because even at the lowest setting it was still pretty much the stock ride height. I'm sure it'll be bouncy, but I am going to be getting some struts and springs, or a coilover setup.

fresh paint minus wing too! thumbs up
