ECMlink freezing during log and connection issue

So I already have a thread on the ecmlink forums.
But I know more people are on here and I would like to try to get things going again.

I was able to get my idle and cruise done.(with some help)
But now it intermittently won't connect to link or it will stop in the middle of connecting.
When it does connect it will only log for a few seconds (and it lags) and it will freeze when I hit save.
I bought a new laptop thinking it was my issue and it does the same thing.
I have read about electrical noise causing this.
So I now logged PacketInt but I'm not sure how to tell if it is off.
Today I tried unhooking the alternator, but it didn't make a difference.
Battery does read at 18 volts at idle and it reads that even with the alternator unplugged?
First log is fully warmed up with PacketInt logged.Can someone take a look to see if it might be it?
The second log is with alternator unplugged and then plugged in.

I also had the same issue recently. Not with the battery at 18volts but the other symptoms though.
Unfortunately I don't have a solution because it kind of fixed it self but I'm interested in a solution too if anyone knows.

Why is your voltage reading 18volts? That is very high, is you regulator damaged? Do you have the latest software downloaded into your ecm? When you connect look to see which version you are running. If your version is up to date and it's still not working try another cable, it's possible that the USB cable is damaged. Check your battery with a volt meter when the car is running and make sure your in the correct voltage range. You might need a new alternator.

The firmware and everything is up to date.
I did check and the alternator is putting out way too much voltage!
I'm going to swap it out with a spare.
It just started raining, but I will post back after I swap it out.

I swapped out the old alternator. (which turned out to be Hyundai)With a good OEM alternator.
Problem is completely gone now.
No more lag and it connects easily.
I went back and looked at my logs, the battery voltage slowly got higher and higher and got more lag as it went up.
So it was caused by the voltage regulator going out causing too much electrical noise.
I can see PackeInt is not all over the place, now that I know what it should look like.
Hopefully this will help out some one later on.
