I have heard that there is a free ems software that is used on dsms. does anyone know where to find this software and has anyone used it with success before?

If you have an eprom ecu you can:
Have the ecu socketed -$60
Chip burner-$40-100 or if you have laptop you can get Ostrich emulator-$175
Tunerpro can be used with burner- $free$ or Tunerpro RT with laptop for realtime editing

DsMap(Jackal) is also an option if you opt to go with the Ostrich for speed density conversion
If you go with a standard chip burner, there are speed density files, which i use, in the DSMEcuYahoo forums if you don't have a laptop

Logging can be done with MMCD(free) and a palm(cheap used) with cable for 1g($30)
You can also use EvoScan if you have the laptop for logging which is not expensive
