Looks sharp for sure.

I was never a fan of the MKIII, but the polished MKIV wheels make it look like a completely different car!

Thanks man. The tires are 255's in the front and 275's in the rear. I'm actually planning on going with either 18" Volk SF Challenges or the Volk GTS wheels in either chrome, rms metal coat, or gunmetal with a polished lip. We'll see what I can afford :)

Welcome to tuners. I have owned a few MK3 Supra's. They are fun cars, but they break more than DSM's!

A few things I learned along the way.

The intake manifold is very restrictive, and the ports are way smaller than the head. Port it and it will be good.

Almost every time you pull the head it warps. (I heard this from numerious MK3 owners, and experienced it twice.)

Install a set of N/A cams, and it will feel like a completely different car. (bigger lift & duration)

The only main concerns regarding most Mk3's are the Headgaskets and the oil system. Toyota did not properly torque the headgasket causing them to blow prematurely. They were torqued to 52 ft/lbs, when it should have been more along the lines of 72 ft-lbs. They are prone to rodknock if the oil levels aren't properly monitored at all times. Any sports car, especially one that is 20 years old is going to be prone to break if the proper maitenance is not done before upgrading begins. This is why so many people degrade Mk3's and DSM's as well.

The NA Cams mod has been around for a long time. Only the intake cam is actually different. All it is actually doing is moving the power band to make it more usable. There have been reported gains of about 15 horsepower on a stock motor. Once you going beyond a stock, or midly upgraded 7MGTE, the NA Cams will actually decrease performance. I'm currently saving for a set of 264 degree hard-welds or regrinds.

I like the side skirts, it's not over the top. I would judge the bumpers until they are on.

My wife is looking to get a project car. For some reason she REALLY has clung to the MKIII. My concern is that she will be able to handle a huge amount of power with a RWD car. Does the MKIII get squirrelly, pretty easy? How is it for drifting. I have actually never seen a MKIII drift? (She wants to do drift).

From what I hear, with a few mods, it can be a decent drifter. Check out SupraMania.com
That's where I am most of the time. It's a great site with tons of information. The people are very nice too.

If she is not experienced with a RWD car, I'd say be very careful. Many people underestimate these cars, but with some money they can be very fast. It's a robust car and weighs a good amount so they dont get too squirrely. They really are fun cars and very slick looking. Toyota was well ahead of their time when they produced them.

If you have any other questions, just register at SM and you're questions will get answered asap.

I had a burgundy 87 targa turbo. Had quite a bit of work, big brake kit, eiback suspension all the way around. Sold it to a buddy who i helped built it to 517rwhp. Fun cars easy to make power. As far as drifting goes there are cheaper/better platforms to start with. Mine got quite squirrly with the stock irs still installed unless we had the drag radials on

She is partial to the MK3. She REALLY likes the old school import look, Z32s, FC3S, MKIII. She is on the fence when it comes to 1g DSMs and S13s.

I'll let her hop on that site and see where it goes from there. We are not ready to buy, but we are always ready to learn.

Thanks for the compliments guys. It's been a long road, lots of money and hard work, but it was well worth it.

Laser, defitnitely register and search around. Most of your questios can be answered using a simple search, if not ask and someone will reply immediately. If you're ever in the northeast and want to see what its like, let me know. I'll be more than happy to show you.

I also forgot to mention that I have a very rare CFX 2" Cowl Carbon Fiber Hood and Carbon Fiber headlight covers that will be installed shortly.

Who knows, at this point I might just sell the CF stuff and keep it the way it is...

I also just picked up an HKS T3 Tubular Manifold. Now I can get rid of the restrictive stock log style exhaust manifold. It will be getting ceramic coated shortly....

Pics of the new HKS T3 manifold. It should clean up very nicely.

I might also be purchasing some Katzkin seat covers as well. They're pretty pricey though.

The car looks good, and should be a blast to drive.

I wasnt trying to give you some pointers, I was just stating some of the things I remembered from messing with the MK3's.

Thanks man. No harm done. Just trying to respond accurately. There are a lot of misconceptions out there about these cars.

Anyway, Frank do you have any site that can list the difference between the years of the MKIII?

Here are a couple great sites. Some of them are very technical and others just have great information. Check 'em out.

Here are a couple pics of my 2" Raised Cowl CFX CF Hood. Only 5 were ever made. Retail price for the hood cost around $1200. These were taken on my buddys car. I still haven't taken new ones. It no longer has those good pins though (Thank God). I went a different route ;)
