Hey guys whats up I have been a member for a while most questions are answered but i don't think this has ever been asked before. I have a set of FP1 cams and a set of 546/547 Web Cams i cant decide which is better for my car. I also have adjustable cam gears which i can use for either. My goal is to get as close as possible to the 400whp mark on a SBR Bastard 20g. What do you guys say Web's or FP1's?

I don't know about FP'1's much, but I had a Web cams 546/547. I was very happy with them. The only downside is to get them to idle. I have AEM, so no problem. I also have Holset HX-40 and there was no sign of power dying with motor revving up to 8400 rpm with these cams. And they have that bumpy idle that I like so much. This is just my experience but choice is yours.

I don't have any personal experience with the Web cams or know their specs but can say the FP1 cams will idle like stock & are designed to make power in the 4500-6500rpm range. They will net you similar resaults to a HKS 264 cam. Its a good choice for 16g sized turbo's or if those rpms are the power band your looking for. I'm not sure how the web cams compare but personally I'd probably want to go with something slightly larger, like a 272 equivalent, for that goal.

Andy did you have to degree the cams with adjustable cam gears in order to make them idle right or did u leave them at 0 degrees?

No, the cams weren't degreed at all, but I got them to idle with AEM. Beforw that I had AFC and it was PITA and the car would stall every now and then.

You can install them if you want, try see how your car responds, but in th long run I would consider buying at least DSM link and call it a day.

ok aside from the idle what do you guys think will make more power? can i use the 272 cam from the intake put it on the exhaust and one of the FP1 cams for the intake that way it would be 264/272 combo?

Yes, you can put the intake cam on the exhaust side of the head. Running a spare intake cam on the exhaust side is an old trick from when i raced motorcycles. The only thing on the ecliupse is the provision for a cam sensor but that shouldn't interfere with it running on the exhaust side.

400 AWHP on a bastard 20g is going to be a bit to accomplish because of the tiny exaust side of the turbo, but i think you might be able to squeek it out if you try hard and tune good. Update when you make the swap!

I had the FP1's and now have the 2's, the 2's don't idle bad at all and I'm at 800 in gear ( auto ).

Now that I have a JMF intake the 2's made more sense with my 6152S turbo, but if you are concerned with street performance with the 20G maybe the 1's might be your ticket.

I know these web cams have been around for a while but people stoped using them maybe a mod or a member that has been on the forum for a while now can give me some info on what makes more power. Come on guys help me out my motor is going in this weekend and i need to know before hand. its definatly better to work on the engine stand then in the car. Please guys i Need iDeAs!!

There was a some cams shootout performed by AMS. Check their site and see. Between FP1 and Web cams, Web cams are definitely going to make more power. People stopped using them, cause HKS's became easily available and cheaper 3-4 years ago, plus several other brands on hand, such as:
FP's, COMP, DKS, BC, JUN, even Greddy. Web cams never were cheap to begin with; MSRP $ 540 or so.

That is certainly not an Apples to Apples comparison. WEB cams have one hell of a chop. I would love to treat them to the CAM Doctor (to get exact specs)

Your right I def mis understood what set of cams he was asking about.:sosad:

Here is the comparison
Web Cam Inc. - Performance and Racing Camshafts / Chrysler Eagle Talon (85-99) ; Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 G 63 (85-99) 2.0L ; Mitsubishi Galant 4 G 63 (85-99) DOHC 16v Timing Card

Since it was said what if i combine the FP1 264 cam for the intake and the Web Cam 272 For the exhaust? Will that result in more or less power than the Original Web Cam Set up? I got them both sitting and Dont mind using one from each.
