wut are they? I mean obviously they are turbos but I've been trying to find more information about them because I've been planning my car to holster a E316g and started stumbling on talk about FP Green and FP Red setups.

From what I've found they sound like pretty serious business and I probably will end up sticking with my E316g plan but I figure it couldn't hurt to find out more.

Thx for the info!

Straight from the FP website........

GREEN

The Receipe
The Green turbo is a Mitsubishi/Garrett hybrid, with a compressor flow of 730cfm, and around 500hp. The turbine wheel is the larger TD06H rather than the TD06. Testing showed no increase in response using the TD06 in place of the TD06H and the smaller TW only reduced overall turbine flow. We pioneered the Mitsu/Garrett hybrid design to make use of the bolt on convenience of the Mitsubishi housings, and the super efficiency of the Garrett compressor wheel. We modified the Mitsubishi bearing housing to include our exclusive Monster thrust bearing which isn't going to be found in cheap immitations. The Green utilizes a modified TD06 compressor housing with a 3 inch inlet. The outlet faces down, and thus the Green bolts up just like a standard 20G turbo. Cast aluminum 90 degree compressor outlet elbows are available to give the Green a stock 2G fitment.

Looks good on paper, how's it work?
The Green has proven its effectiveness on numerous 1G and 2G DSM applications. Curt Brown's 1G AWD race car ran a 10.7 @ 130mph with no nitrous. Loren Jacobs' full weight 2G AWD street car ran 11.5 @ 125mph, also without nitrous. The bottom line is, this turbo hauls ass. With anything this sucessful you will see inferior copies offered by "dormroomracing.com" type wannabe shops. Don't get taken by a parts slinger who is going to "order your turbo in", we build our turbos in house and have the reputation you can count on for reliability and customer service.

You want fries with that?
The Green is available in both internal and external wastegate configurations. For externally gated applications, we highly recommend Tial wastegates. Your Green can be further customized with 7cm2 or 8cm2 turbine housings, turbine wheel clipping, wet or dry bearing housings, and polished compressor housings.

RED

WTF is a Red?
The Red model, much like it's little Green brother, is a Mitsu/Garrett hybrid. The Red combines a modified TD06 compressor housing and 8cm2 turbine housing with a clipped TD06H turbine wheel and a big ass Garrett compressor wheel. Don't ask us what it is, we won't tell you.

Who's your daddy?
The Red has proven to be a major contender among the ranks of the fastest DSMs in the world. Pruven Performance went 9.90 @ 142mph on an off the shelf Red turbo, Curt Brown has run a best of 9.87 @ 145.7 with his FPRed model turbocharger, and Dale Nardozzi has run 10.275 @ 132.75mph using an FPRed in his VR4 Galant! All these were WITHOUT NITROUS

No crybabies allowed
The Red model is a drag race turbo, capable of producing in excess of 600 horsepower. To make that much power, and go as fast as it will take you, your car needs to be well prepared with engine, fuel, electronics, and safety equipment. It has become popular to run this turbo in max effort street cars, ususally this is done with a 7cm2 turbine housing rather than the standard 8cm2 housing.

And yes man, they are serious business. FP knows turbos! :thumb:

Need I say more??

Yeah man, but like I said, FP does make some good stuff. Visit the website, forcedperformance.com and check them out. They sell numerous turbos, from Evo16g and T28 to the FP Green and the famous FP3065. I just realized they are about 1hr away from me. :thumb:

The 2 turbos are sort of mutts.

Like said above:

Green is a 50trim
Red is a 60-1

both use a 8cm2 housing TDO6H (red is clipped for more uummppph) with a monster thrust bearing center section

They are great turbos. The green can be run on a stock bottom end and will see great improvements with some head work such as cams. The red on the other hand can push the stock internals past what most would call "resonable" circumstances.

Think about what you want and how you want to deliver it. Then decide from there.

neither, evoIII16g or 18g for a street car is all you really need. if your a litle more power hungry than maybe a 50-trim. but i dont really know for you cause u have a n/t. it depends on how built your motor is and what kind of manifold your running.

so ....in short what brand or model do you suggest for a street smart /everyday driving needs?
the green? or the red?

For your needs, it's not the best decision to go with either of these turbos for daily driving. Go with an E16G unless you want to deal with the lag and extra cost of a FP turbo. But if you wanted to go with either the Green or the Red, go with the green for daily use. But again, these are more track turbos, not street turbos. You will be waiting for spool and draining your bank account constantly.

yep. the fp turbos are nice, but pretty pricey for just a street turbo. i still say evoIII or 18g.

sorry to revive this thread from the dead..what about the 68HTA :) i have a thread comparing the green and the 68HTA, looks like people say the green is a good street turbo, same with the red, even a 35r is the street king.... im trying to get ahold of a red, but if i cant find one reasonably priced, ill go 68HTA

WTF was wrong with the thread you had going?

Why was this brought back?

It's closed now. The last thing we need is you posting in TWO places about the SAME thing.
