I just ordered my AF/X UDP from howell yesterday after reading through some threads on here. I was just wondering from those of you who have one, how much of a difference could you feel after putting it on? Does anyone know how much of a 1/4 mile time difference it makes? Im kinda hoping that this will prove a tie breaker between me and my friends 2000 Monte Carlo SS.

This is the 1st engine mod that i have done to my talon and im hoping it makes me happy so that i will be encouraged to by more. The only other performance ish mod i have is a B&M short throw.

anyway, any input on this question would be great.

When I got my UDP, I felt a big difference in the top end. Definately a noticeable change. If you were even with the guy before, you'll get him by probably 1/2 a length.
 
Is it a real kick in the pants tho? How does it compare to the difference a cai makes? cuz i have trouble feeling differences in my cars power, like i barely felt a gain from my cai, and im interested in this too. worth it or not?
 
Don't Montes have 220hp? I doubt the UDP will make up that kind of gap. It just frees up power to the ground, it won't increase the power of the engine, just to the wheels. Dollar for dollar, the UDP is said to be the most noticeable bolt on for the 2GNT. I have one on my car, and I'd tell you how it changed the drive, but I installed it during a hi-CR rebuild with ported/polished intake mani and TB, header and a couple other little tweaks, so it all kind of blends together. You want it for sure, but whether it makes the difference against a car with that kind of power is doubtful.
 
like DR said, it's not how much you gain, but what kind horsepower it frees up. It's more like a percentage then a solid number. Consider it something that'll grow with your car.

Say it frees up 3% powerloss, that means a mod that gives you 10 hp would give you 13 hp. That turbokit that gave you 50 hp would give you 65, etc etc.

I didn't feel a big gain when I put on my upd, but every other mod after stood out.

Ummm your numbers are a tad bit off. you have to multiply by .03 instead of .3 like you did. so a 10hp mod would give you 10.3hp, and a 50hp mod would give you 51.5hp :thumb:

but none the less i see your point. has anyone felt a decent powergain from it? like do you rpm's really fly up faster or what? please be as detailed as possible. thanks!
 
oh yea and did you install it yourself? if you did, how hard was it? if you had it installed for you, what did it cost? thanks
 
the rpms wont really fly up too much faster with any bolt on on a 2gnt...

i installed mine myself it wasnt too hard, getting the stock pull off is hard tho...go to checker or something and rent a pulley puller...and when u return it you get ur money back.

when i wanted mine installed i called my local apex shop and they said 90 bucks to install
