Hey.

2G TSI

I figured out why I wasn't going over 10 pounds of boost. Basically the vacuum line on my fuel pressure regulator fell off. I do have a question about the solonoid though. Whoever I bought the car off before me got rid of the EGR. Now, at the FPS there is (from left to right) the line from the intake manifold goes in the left side. Now on the right side there is a 2 nipples. One going to the right, and one going down.

The one on the right is blocked off (I assume this went to the EGR) and the down one goes to the fuel pressure regulator. Is this correct?

Now that I plugged the FPR hose back in it's back to about 12, 12.5 psi max. Now I have a turboxs MBC hooked up but it won't go any higher than 12 psi. I'm assuming the reason for this is the 2G BOV is just junk and it's leaking and won't allow any higher boost.

I'm putting an UICP and 1G BOV on this weekend so correct this problem. But just to verify, I left the hose to the wastegate open, and closed off the T line at the BOV.

It still ran the same boost (12 psi) as I had with the MBC hooked up.

From what I read, it seems normal that people can't get over 11/12 psi on the 2G BOV. But I also read that the 2G BOV can hit 14 or 15 psi too.

Basically, I just want to make sure my MBC isn't busted. I guess i'll find out for sure this weekend when I put the 1G BOV on.

Just need some verification to make sure I got everything going good so far.

Thanks Guys.

Brighten it up if you need to. Got it hooked up the way it should be I believe. BOV line to the gold nipple, and blue to wastegate.

Why did you leave the hose to the waste gate off? I just want to know your reasoning.
probably to see how much boost he could build

Yeah just to see how much boost I could build to make sure I wasn't being limited by a bad boost controller.

Like I said in the first post, it ran the same boost as having the MBC hooked up. Which was about 12 pounds. So I assume that the 2G BOV is leaking and just won't allow me to push it any furthur. But all this is already talked about in my first post, so please read that one for full details.

Where to start
Ok first
If you want to know at what psi your 2g BOV will leak, do a boost leak test.
If you have access to a compressor, slowly turn up the pressure and put your hand over the BOV port.
At the point it starts leaking, you will feel the air and know the PSI it's leaking at.
This is the best way to test it.

As far as how much PSI the 2g BOV can hold. It depends. They're all different. Just like the 1g BOV. Some have held high boost where others have had less success. The 1g is definitely better though. I ran one for a couple years on my 2g.

Just a little extra advice. I understand your reasoning behind disconnecting the wastegate, but you need to be extremely careful. There's always a better/right way to do things.
You can easily overspin your turbo, ruining it. Even though you only see 12 PSI, the turbo is spinning faster and faster and faster until it can't take it anymore. It's definitely a good way to make yourself upgrade your turbo earlier than you wanted.
Even with large boost leaks and the wastegate set up correctly, it will spin faster than it should to keep up with the leaks to make the 12 PSI.
Just another reason to do a boost leak test
