I was wondering if anyone had rigged up a way for the fog lights to flash when using the factory keyless entry. When locking the car there are two interior lights under the mirror that flash and was wondering if anyone knows of a way to tie them into the factory foglights. Any input would be great. John

I have my foglights rewired to come on with the parking lights. Therefore when I do happen to leave my foglight button pushed in when I park the car, they flash when I unlock and lock my doors.

I have that rewire as well. So what your saying is when you park and turn your lights off and lock the doors your foglights flash? Did you follow the vfaq on the rewire. I just tried it on mine and nothing happened. Can you try to think of anything else that you did that would make this to happen? John

I used the rewire in VFAQ. I just turn off my lights with the fogs still in the on position. But I don't have a stock alarm, but it can't be that different.
It probably has to do with the fact that you dont have a stock alarm. Thats the only thing that I can think of that would let it work on your car and not mine. Unless the :dsm:'s come with that feature and the :talon:'s dont. John

Does anyone know which fuse is the one that powers the security system? Im trying to do the same thing from the vfaq rewire for the foglights just using the fuse for power from the security system which should be powered even when the car ignition is off. John

The factory alarm does not have a light flash feature besides the interior lights. If you were to tie the fog lights into the interior light wiring then they would come on whenever you open the doors. I wanted my parking lights to flash similar to what you are going for but there was no way around them coming on with the doors open. I happen to have M3 mirrors with the blue and white LEDs so I hooked up the white LEDs to the turn signals and the blue LEDs to the door lights in the foot-wells so the mirrors flash blue twice when i lock the doors and light up blue when i open the doors, the visual is helpful, plus now i know if i walk away and leave the door cracked open by accident.

i have a stock alarm and my fogs flash... what you need to do is run an extra power wire that splices into the interior lights power wire that comes from the alarm itself... dont do it to the other power wire or when you turn the interior lights on your fogs will probably turn on as well... thats all you need to do, i have it done and it works fine... i also have my cobra eyes hooked up to the same function... works out pretty good...

Thank you! Now some more questions. Where is the alarm itself located, and do you think you could splice into the alarm power wire and then just run it out to the fuse box and hook into the fog light's fuse (This makes sense to me, just want to make sure it makes sense to someone else). John

you need to have the alternating from on and off power coming from somewhere... which would be the interior lights... just run the power wire from the foglights to the interior lights because you want the switch to be able to have power anytime the car is on (which it does already) but you also want the foglights to be able to get power anytime the interior lights are flashing on the interior... this means that you have to find the lead that runs from the alarm to the interior lights.... then splice an extra power wire into that so that if your car is off and you turn your inside lights on the fogs dont come on... that would kinda make it hard to do anything because if you left the inside lights on, on accident, your battery would die so fast with the foglights on as well.. although this might tip you off that you left them on if you did have it wired that way...

sure i dont remember the color, and i dont even really remember where i spliced in at, i did it about 5 years ago when i bought the car so sorry... you could go to autozone and by a book on your car and it will give you everything you need, including wiring diagrams, and placement of the alarm box... that would be the best thing, thats what i did, and i think that book only cost like 15$ or something like that... if i had it here with me i would just look it up...

Thanks I think I'm going to try it this weekend. I do have a chiltons manaul and just didnt think to look in it for the alarm location. John

your welcome... glad i could help, well lead you in the right direction whatever... hope that the manual can help you out with the locations and wire color, it should, helped me swap an engine so thats cakework compaired to that :)

I was wondering if it was possible to rewire the alarm system so that when you lock/unlock the car with the keyless entry, the headlights and tailights will blink on and off twice. I'm tired of pressing the unlock on the keyless only to lift the handle to find out it's still locked.

Why not Invest in a new aftermarket alarm system? This way you can get rid of that UGLY transmitter, have the parking lights flash, Have horn confirmation (horn chirps when vehicle is locked/unlocked) and have the benifit of having a shock sensor.
