i have a 91 gsx 4g63 gen 1 and looking to put a fmic on it and wondering if it is possible to install it with out getting rid of my a/c????? is there enough room behind the bumper for the rad a/c condenser and the fmic???? :banghead:

please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

cool.... i am buying the car next month..... could you tell me what the measurement from under the front lower inside of the front bumper to the a/c condenser on ## tsi???

It's definitely doable. It all depends on the size of your intercooler, the size of your piping, and the way you route the piping. There's a way to do it, you just need to get a little creative.

This isn't a picture of my car but this is how I routed my 2.5" ICP, On drivers side I had to hack a path and do some welding to make it look decent. That was probably the hardest part of the IC routing. I ran it close to the downpipe but I wrapped the DP and the ICP also. I don't have an A/C but I could put one in if I wanted to.

sweet thanks.... well that answers the question of if it will fit in front of the a/c condenser.... sounds like mounting up isnt that hard but the piping is going to be a pain in the a$$...i think i am going to go with the 27 x 5.5 x 2.5 but take a look at this pic and tell me if it looks like the right pipe kit.... if you dont mind i figure sence you have aready did the piping on ## car???

Yes it will. But I hacked out some and moved it back about an inch. I had the bend the piping a little though. Sorry I don't have pics. I need to get some of my build pics on my profile. I know I took pics of this. My FMIC install was also 3". It will be tight. You may need to cut the crash beam some too. I recomend getting a grinder and some cutting wheels. Harbor Frieght China Garbage but it will get the job done. Get quality cutting wheels though the cheap one will disinigrate

i think i am going with this kit pic.ed here.... do you think the pipe kit is the right one for the setup i want or should i go w/ a pipe kit that has the "u" pipes?? its the JDM 28"x7"x2.5" intercooler

could you give me some pics of ## install... the one i am looking at is 3" thick with i think 3" piping... think it'll still work or should i look for a 2.5" w/ 2" in and outs??
what is the sizes of the one u put on urs?

Yeah, thats about the same size I bought, I beilieve the actual core is 21" across.

I'd stick with 2.5" inlets& piping but thats me. I'm only looking for 300hp, or so anyway when I'm done, I went with full 2" piping.

In the bottom pic, I used that piece I built, and the blue coupler to replace the first route I went on the hot side. I got rid of that clamp, and ran it through the crash wall beside the radiator. It took a little sawzall to cut out enough space for the 2" pipe I can't imagine cutting it for a 3".

I didn't remove my crash bumper either, I bolted it to it, doing this I also got to keep the fog lights, as the pipes ran right beside them.

I think you'll be fine with that kit, thats a massive IC core. What HP are you going to peak for? Mine is good to 400HP. Its only 6" tall, and 28" long.

You can use those long pipes, and cut them where you need them to fit, I see some good ones for running a short route to the throttle body, as well as the hot side.

thanks snake eyes for the pics and the install help..... at this point in the game i am only shooting for 250hp maybe 275hp ..... don't have the cash to do the 3" turbo back exhaust .... long term goal is 350 to 375 hp... right now i am going for looks more then power cause i have done lots i mean lots of racing but except for the other gsx and my firebird all the cars I've had went fast but looked like shit... im 32 now w/ a family so i cant be taking the chances that i use to w/ my ride so i may only go to the track 2 or 3 times a year.... i also have a killer system that will be going in the car, its hitting close to 150db in my Geo Metro so i figure i should get around 140 to 145 db's in the gsx.... ill send u a few pics when i get the car next month..... getting a real good deal on it... the timing belt snapped and well it bent some valves but i think its only on 1 cylinder cause the other 3 have good compression and 1 dead cylinder.... only other problem is the waste gate rob is bent and gate is stuck open but that's only a $55 part i am doing all of the stage 0 upgrade from this site and steps 1, 2, 3, and 8 well and the LARGE FMIC!! what kinda hp do you all think ill get by doing all this???

Right on I hear you, I'm working 12 hours, 6 day weeks trying to get ready for Daytona in Feb. I got a hundred things I need done, and no time.

If your plan is under 375HP, I'd get a core this size.

FMIC FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER MAZDA RX-7 RX-8 MIATA MX-5:eBay Motors (item 120499021528 end time Dec-28-09 04:34:03 PST)

I know it says Mazda, but I posted as a example of size. The FMIC I have gets warm on the hot side, I'm at about 275HP, and there is NO way I can heat soaking this thing. Even in Mid summer, the TB side of the IC, felt like a fridge. After beating on her....Oh, wait...thats the same size you posted...LOL

LOL thanks dude..... ya i looked at the link and the kit im looking at is 28"x7"x2.5" and the one in the link is 27" x 8" x 3" so i think its close enough....... good luck with yours hope you get it done in time.... so with doing all of the stuff in stage 0 from and steps 1, 2, 3, and 8 from stage 1 from the upgrade setup we have here on this site what hp do you think i'll be at?? and btw i am so happy that i found this site!!!!!!!!!!

Its hard to call, every car is different. Mine pulled harder then my LT1 Trans Am, after completing stage one. I can tell you that. For sure if your getting a o2 dump, go ahead, and get a 2g, or Evo exhaust manifold, I promise you won't regret it. Plus its a chance for a new man. gasket, and to port match some.
