there is snow on the ground thou. it must be the subie body sticker gave it a few more hp and lost control in those slick conditions

I cant believe no one has posted the mishimoto series as a reference, mainly to disprove the fact that powder coating will not affect anything. here is the links:EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance PartsYou must be logged in to view this image or video.
That's just something I quickly whipped up, I would run something like that on my fmic, but meh I'm too lazy.

might have to barrow it
Pretty sure that's anodized. Not powder coated. Anodizing increases the surface area.I cant believe no one has posted the mishimoto series as a reference, mainly to disprove the fact that powder coating will not affect anything. here is the links:EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance PartsYou must be logged in to view this image or video.
I'm not sure how a link to an intercooler at extremepsi disproves the notion that the reduction in efficiency, caused by a reasonable use of paint, is insignificant.

i like this one a bit better than your last.might have to barrow it
While I agree that this does not prove anything I was basically bringing up a point that a reputable manufacturer has made these, so take it for what its worth, a production option, not a mere hack job idea. something that was good enough to hit the mass production market. I can break it down barney style all day.
Im pretty sure you didnt click on the link and read the description, allow me to break it down barney style for you too

This guy!
You really chose to try to disrespect two members by using terms such as "barney style"? I'm sorry you felt this way.
Your posts in this thread appear contradictory. Initially you imply that paint on an intercooler is of significant detriment. Your second post seems to indicate that since a manufacturer offers a coating option, coatings/paint must then not be of significant detriment.
If I were in a fighting mood I might suggest, considering the confusion your posts add up to, that you go back to playing with barney yourself. But I'm not, so I'll happily let you walk your walk.

3 words, Mr. Yuk
You know what, you are right. Im sorry dude, I guess I didnt catch myself being a dick so my apologies to everyone!
I'm so sick of seeing these stupid ass post's by these stupid-ass internet weenies that couldn't even break 300WHP if their lifes depended on it talkin all this S when they trully don't even know what the F their talkin about.
Painting a intercooler will have NO ILL EFFECTS. PERIOD. Why is that EVERY SINGLE DIESEL TRUCK HAS A BLACK PAINTED INTERCOOLER? Hmmm... Why is every radiator in the world black? Hmmm...
Don't be dumb. Its not like home boy is gonna bust out a 4" wide paint brush and paint it with house paint and totally clog the fins.
They can be painted any damn color a guy wants and it will not effect any performance at all.
Intercoolers do not have to be bling bling. They can be black red blue whatever.
I'm sick of constantly seeing this debate pop up.
If it'll shut the lil 18 year old ricers up, ill log several powerpulls on my 600AWHP GSX then ill paint my 24"X12.5"X4" FMIC flat black. Go do the same power pulls on the same road at the same time a day and post all the data so you can all see that it made no differance.
And if intake air temp was effected, I bet it'd be minimall. Like not even half a degree. DUH
And the next person that fires back with some smartass reply about paint and its loss of efficiantcy is gonna get a penis painted on their intercooler.
