I'm looking at the PTE medium sized IC and the e-bay Spearco FMICs that are about the same size. It's going on a daily driver with evo316G, 650s, blow-thru and all supporting mods. Any feed back on either of these? Or another recommendation for a FMIC w/o pipes? These are both between 400-500 bucks. I'm not looking to spend much more than that because I don't think I'll need one of the rediculous ICs that are made for BIG turbos, I just wouldn't use their potential. Thanks for some feedback/ideas!

I was thinking the same thing when I got my intercooler. Why pay for more intercooler that you need? I went with the Spearco 2-209 core. Flows 670 cfm's and supports 450hp. $300 from RRE. Check the site and see which is better for your application.

I bought a Yonaka IC from www.streetimports.com. I got the 24X12X3 shipped to my house for $389. They have a mid-sized one that is 21X9X3 for 299 plus shipping. Mine went on fairly easily and I was able to keep the actual bumper in my car. I just did it this last weekend and have pics but they are really big. I will get them posted when I can.

Did you get some fuel mods yet mike? Honestly I'd grab those up before the IC but if you're gonna do them all within a few months, I guess it doesn't matter.

turbolarry, do you have any pics of the final product? Sounds like the most efficient way to get a good IC that fits your own personal needs. :thumb:

When I contacted RRE they recomended thick sheet to avoid balloning. It measures 1/8 inch thick (.125").

2-221 top to bottom. A very proven core for dsm's. Low pressue drop, not overly large and readily available. Ideal for 16g turbos.

here is a core for $300.

I have this and have worked with, JR, the guy who makes these. They are very efficient, flow enought to support a 50 trim. and he knows his shit. I think these intercoolers are gonna become very popular shortly.

this intercooler, plus 3 inches of height, is used on the 1000hp 300zx, that JR built himself, in the picture in this auction.

Definitely check these out for a cheap, well built, good intercooler option.

2-221 top to bottom. You can have the tanks switched to either location.

I'd go with the 2g kit that JR makes and sells on ebay. The 7" tall version is only like 650 bucks and that's full piping, silicon couples and stainless T-bolt clamps :thumb:

Damn you guys are critical (good eye though :thumb: ). Both assemblies look basically the same. Other then the dimensions being slightly different. (spearco is thicker).

Which one is this? All I see are 1G setups that have the intakes in the back of the I/C.

He also makes a kit for the 2g, just E-mail him and ask. The kit already comes with a J-pipe and everything, so it's perfect for a 16g.
