I've been flashing my ECU for some time now, and I've been contemplating doing the swap to my Stealth. While browsing their forums I came across this thread:

1G here running a flash ECU. Need to take some timing out, as its more advanced with a flash ecu and 1G cam sensor setup.

The timing is off 3-4 degrees, but that is only at the upper RPMs. Due to the design of the sensors, the timing difference is RPM based.

To change the timing values, you need to take the value the ECU calls for, and subtract RPM*.0005 from that timing value.

So for example if the ECU calls for 20 degrees of timing at 7000 RPM, the value you would need to enter is 16.5.

But at 1000 RPM you only need to take out .5 degrees of timing (20 - (1000*.0005). I always rounded down to be safe.

So now in that cell I'd have 16, but because of the latency differences, I'm actually getting right at 20 degrees.

It dawns on me that we have a similar setup when doing the 6-bolt swap, but I've never seen anyone bring it up with flashable ECU's. I personally use the earlier optical sensor rather than the later hall-effect type, and I recall reading that it throws off timing slightly. So am I right to assume we have the same latency issue? Does anyone know if our correction formula is the same?

I know it's only a few degrees, but I like the idea of knowing the actual number that comes out based on what I put in. I wonder if switching to the later hall-effect sensor corrects this issue. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
