Can you fix fogging headlights my drives side is all fogged up. If you can fix it how so and please tell me thanx

I have that exact same problem on the right front side. I have tried a lot, polishing compound, rubbing compound, and even this $10 kit off ebay. but i havent heard of baking soda and vinegar ill try that next. then ill try aluminum polish

I use a product from 3M called "Perfect It" Polishing compound and it works great. Headlight looks like new when it's done correctly.

when you mean used correctly what do you mean. You swirl it on, let haze and wipe off correct? maybe im just doing it wrong because other people find luck somehow

I mean used the stuff I talked about along with a buffer. Mine were done with an air buffer but I'm sure you could probably use an electric one too. But you can't use the shitty foam pads you have to use one of the cloth ones.

To fix the headlight problem is simple: You'll need: + - screwdrivers, socket set, plastic polish, rags, oven or heat gun, sand paper 1000, 1500, and 2000 grit wet or dry sandpaper, and for people who want a little more than clean headlights, grab some paint to paint the inside chrome or black piece any color you want.

First take them off by removing your front bumper and all screws holding in your headlights, then preheat oven to 350 degrees(yes really), then put your headlight in for about 4 min to losen up the silicone between the clear part and the gray part if it is not soft enough to pry apart by using a little muscle put it in for a little longer. Once you get it apart take all the parts out including the chrome piece and the amber lens(now you have clear corners just remember to screw the reflector back in). If you want now you can paint the chrome piece black like the 97-99 or your car color or just any color, remember to clearcoat many times to make it shiny. Now just clean up the inside of the headlight using the polish until nice and smooth. Now comes the hardest part, wet the 1000 grit and sand the headlight for a couple of minutes make sure you sand hard and alot to get all the rock chips and dust off your lens, do the same with the 1500, with the 2000 you are going to have get all the other sanding scratches down to just fine scratches but don't worry your lens will look like shit about now. Okay take the polish and use plenty of muscle apply the polish and let dry for 10 minutes wipe off but do not turn rag while wiping off or it won't be as clear. If your light still has scratches you might have to resand with the 2000 and then polish again, just keep doing this until it is perfectly clear. Then using silicone put the lights back together making sure not to miss any spots sealing it up or it will get foggy all over again. now just put them back and enjoy your $30 headlights. If any questions please just call me in Louisiana at 1-337-296-5375 ask for Simon or Email me [email protected] It might take me a while to get to you with an Email though.
Hope I helped someone. Good Bye :dsm: :thumb:

There's a few articles in the Tech section. They all boil down to abrasively polishing them.

that link is for cleaning the inside..if im not mistaken his headlight is messed up on the outside...i have the same problem...ive used mothers aluminum polish but it is only a temporary fix....i dont kno what to do to mine...maybe sand them down n polish them...maybe clearcoat them after that so rain doenst just wash off the polish? i dont kno i dont think thers a for sure way to fix them...or at least i havnt found out yet...i think best bet is to find a new head light that looks as good as everyones passenger one....i think it is kinda strange that 99 percent of the time its the driver side head light that gets messed up...passenger head light is 3 ft away why isnt it messed up too?...its mitsu's huge conspiracy...

:dsm: hey guys i wrote that big long explaination earlier in this thread but now I am tired of always having to go back and polish my headlights every week or so. I bought the Halo projectors off of ebay for like $235 after shipping and everything. I only ate 1 meal a day for a long time to buy these lights so I hope they are pretty frickin' awesome when I get 'em in. Really guys if you want really clear headlights buy some off ebay but always remeber to re-silicone them when they come in to be sure there are no leaks. gotta go :thumb:
