Fixed a couple of boost leaks

Last week I fixed a couple of very small boost leaks, they were both on the turbo outlet elbow. I had some weird results after this fix. Before I would hit full boost at around 2500-2600 rpms, and there was no lag when getting on the throttle. It felt like the turbo was transparent.

Now after the fix, I don't reach full boost until about 2700-2800 rpms and theres some slight lag. Other than this the car feels the same as before.

Any one have any idea's?

There were not any other leaks at the time, I'll double check to make sure one didn't develope. I still don't understand how fixing a leak could mean more lag.

there is some side effect to what you did or something else coincidentally happened...

You probably created another leak. You probably hit a pressure higher than you've hit before, which popped something else.

I just did a pressure test, I found three very very small leaks. One is at the throttle body where the throttle plate and spring are. Number two is at the valve cover gasket in the front passenger corner, and the third one is at the oil cap, this one only leaks when I turned the pressure up to 25psi. I have a pressure gauge one my pressure tester, and I have my boost gauge tapped off the intake manifold. I have no measureable pressure drop, I'm sure theres some, but its very little.

Also should I be getting this much pressure in the valve cover?

if the motor is cold, plug the nipple on the left of the valve cover.

The PCV valve should not be letting boost get into the valve cover.

Time for a new one.
