If you are tying to diagnose a smell from a location you need to be more specific. Leaking caps will smell like that as said above. I've smelled some "rotten" coolant that had a fish scent as well. Fish smell like fish and so do certain holes.

Just remember a little odor is completely normal. Try vagisil.

On a more serious note if you are referring to a problem +1 on leaky capacitors. Been there.
