:::EDIT::: Apparently my story violates Blog rules by including accusations and personal complaints and I've been asked to remove them. I left the story the same and just deleted the personal info to comply. The point of this blog was really more to tell the horror story of how I got this car rather than bash the piece of shit who dicked me over. :::EDIT:::

I doubt anyone will read this but here's the story of how I acquired my newest DSM and the drama that ensued. It's long, real long. Fair warning :)

Approximately 2 years ago, I made a deal with a guy who I considered a friend. He also seemed knowledgeable in DSMs and owned the local automotive enthusiast forum in Spokane, WA which contained a lot of DSMers. His name is **** ****** and goes by the screen names ******* or ***** on basically every popular DSM forum around. He lives in ****** and owns **********.

The deal I made was to purchase a '95 GSX 5 speed he had sitting at his dad's house for $2,000. It was missing it's engine and a few other things. A part of this deal was that he would install my engine into this rolling chassis as a part of the deal because I was living in a townhouse at the time and working about 100 miles from Spokane. I gave him $500 cash down on the car and began assembling an engine I've always wanted to build. I spent about $4,000 total and handed over a huge box of parts to ****, a complete 4G64 factory short block, a complete '96 head, and enough cash for this thing to be assembled by the shop he recommended.

The problems began here. According to him he handed over my parts and engine to a shop in Spokane right away. It took almost 6 months to get just the assembled short block back. I couldn't get any information from **** on why things were taking so long and couldn't get a hold of the guy he supposedly gave $4,000 of my shit to. Eventually the block was finished but the head still hadn't been touched. **** claimed he got the head and parts back and sent them to another guy in Spokane named something-Castle who was reputable and would finish in good time.

At this time, I lose my job! Sucks, but hey it happens. I hated Spokane and figured that rather than move from my town house back to my house in Spokane and look for a new job, I'd move to a city I love. So I pack up my shit to move to Phoenix and talk to **** about the car situation. The plan I had in mind was to fly from Phoenix up to Spokane when the car is done and drive it back down since I already had to worry about moving 3 other vehicles, my ZX6R, and a Uhaul truck full of my belongings. He says that's great, the car wouldn't be done for a few weeks anyways and that would give me time to move and unpack, then come back to pick up the car.

I should have seen this coming but I thought he was at least a decent guy, if not an actual friend of mine. As soon as I leave town **** starts dodging me. He won't answer his phone or respond to e-mails, PMs, or texts. When I start getting nasty with threats he finally responds and says he has my engine complete and assembled but now there's a problem with the car. He makes up some BS story about how the car was payment for a job he was doing for someone that eventually fell through and the car wasn't his to sell. He suggests I either pick up all my shit and get my $500 deposit back or find another car. Kinda hard to just pick up my shit when it's 1400 miles away. I look around and find an auto '95 GSX that has a spun bearing in Spokane. *** goes to look at it, says it's perfect, and they settle on $1,700. The stupidest thing I could have done at this point was to continue this project with *** but for some reason I sent him another $1,200 to buy the car. He buys it, sends pictures and says he's taking it apart to install my engine and it shouldn't be long.

From the time he bought the car to when I actually got the car, approximately 10 months elapsed. The few times that he would speak to me on the phone, he had excuses like he was waiting on parts or that he needed another part I was missing. I didn't have the money or time to fly to Spokane and kill him. I mean... pick up my belongings... Anyways... eventually he says the car is done and I can come get it. We agree on a date and the night before, he stops answering my phone calls again and vanishes. I can't fly into Spokane not knowing where this guy is or where my car is so I cancel the trip and start making phone calls to some friends back in Spokane. They go to his house, his work, and his parents house and start the mafia routine. I call him out on his website as a thief and informed him that I was coming to town and I didn't care what the progress was. I was getting my stuff back, or else... **** calls back a day later! Amazing! He claims he was out of town and that he's not trying to rip me off. **** also claims to have hired a guy that day to finish the car since he's screwed up this entire project and lied about everything. The car would be done! Period! I didn't want the car finished, I just wanted my car, parts, and money back and told him I was renting a truck and trailer to get my stuff back to Arizona.

The night before my flight I talk to him again to make sure he's not going to skip town again and he says that the guy who finished the car wants more money before releasing the car. I tell him that's illegal in WA and if they need to square up, that's between them and I was going to be there regardless. I tell him that if everythings square I'd give him $200 for whatever reason.

When I get to Spokane, the guy finishing the car is named Trevor and has been blasted all over the internet as a thief, a hack job, and a ####ing joke period. The car looks like shit. The windshield is broke, the tail light is broken, the old short block was thrown into the back of the cargo area without even a piece of plastic. Under the hood looks like a toilet exploded but you could see a very new 4G64 short block and head and the car ran very well for as bad as it looked. But it was missing my EPROM w/ DSMLink, Fluidyne radiator, Prothane engine mounts, AFPR, a Snap On valve tool, and some other random stuff and he didn't have the title on him.

**** asks for the $200 (big suprise) and I tell him no because the car is a disaster and I'm missing over $1,000 in parts. He gets pissed and says the parts are at his garage in GarageTown and to follow him over there. He jumps in his truck and flys out of the neighborhood before I can follow him. He won't answer his phone and sends me a childish text saying my shit will be outside when I figure out where the garage is. I call some friends and find out where it is and meet him there before he can bail. He gives me my AFPR and Fluidyne and says that's it. He doesn't know where the rest of the stuff is and doesn't care. He tells me to get out of his garage so he can lock it up and to give him his EPROM ECU and battery that are in my car.

At this point I contemplate pulling the .40 Glock 23 out of my waste band and shooting him in the face, burning the garage down with 4 cars in it and his truck, and driving back to Phoenix in my POS DSM. But I was just beginning a law enforcement career and figured 25 - life wouldn't help my career get off the ground. :) Instead I sat down in his garage and called the sheriff's department. I told the dispatcher the story and requested an officer for assistance. I know **** kept a gun in his dad's truck and notified the dispatcher of it. **** instantly began to sweat. 3 minutes after I hung up the phone, ****says F it and gives me the title to the car and starts digging through his garage for the rest of my shit. I called the dispatcher back and canceled the call for service.

I really lucked out with that move. It was really a BS move because I had no proof of anything and he had the title in his possession and my name wasn't on it. If a deputy had arrived on scene, I probably would have been worse off than when I began. The fact that he choked and gave up the title was my only good luck in the entire deal.

**** claimed the prothane mounts, Snap on tool, my EPROM and copy of DSMLink, and the left over parts from my OEM overhaul kit were at his dad's house and he would mail them to me the next day and he would square up completely. I tell him I'd send him the $200 and his EPROM ECU from the car if I get all my stuff back. Fat chance, but whatever. At least I got the title.

I'm stuck with a POS DSM that probably isn't road worthy and no where to go now. I have work in two days and can't miss that. WTF? I think out of pure exhaustion I said F it and just hit the road in. I drove to my parents house 350 miles away and didn't have a single problem. The next day I changed the oil and drove the last 1100 miles and made it all the way to Phoenix without a single issue. Another spur of luck in this cluster #### of a deal...

That's a pretty crazy ordeal over a car. Kinda sucks when people try to screw you when you are paying for a valid service.

holy god that is terrible man. i thought things were bad for me. when i bought my 98 gsx, after 4 miles of driving the motor went(no oil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) then two months later get the car back. a week later i blew another motor(miss-shift 1-2-1) i cried. month and a half later got the car back and drives like a charm. knock on wood.

but why would you trust that guy again for the second time? makes no sense to me. you seem like a nice guy, maybe too nice.

I don't know why I trusted him after things started going wrong in the first few months. I think hope and desperation made me turn a blind eye to the situation and hope for the best. In hind site (of course) I could have very easily lost every penny to this asshole and wouldn't have been able to do a thing about it!

holy balls batman... i'd ran that ###kin car right through the garage door and through his four cars and got out and said.. NICE BRAKE JOB DICK.... your fault... sorry... hope your business insurance covers MY CAR...

that straight up sux dude bra.... wow... lack of morals is a understatement.... that guys a straight up dousch that steals money out of his parents wallets when they go to sleep and then says it was his friends... ###### his grandma too.. those kinda people... needed to live in the old days.. when you get shot for lookin a mans daughter longer than 3 seconds...

hope your luck gets better man

NEWS FLASH: I AM NOT A SHOP, I DO NOT WORK ON CARS FOR A LIVING, DESPITE WHAT MR. SIMONS MAKES IT SEEM LIKE

Hey ***. That's a pretty awesome story. Too bad it's not all truth. I'm not going to spend a ton of time writing a response with the other info, but any time you're back in Spokane and want to settle up, go ahead and come on over.

Fact of the matter is, I paid $900 out of pocket, to have your car finished because I didn't have time. You make it sound like i ####ed you, but the fact of the matter is.. .you paid $500 deposit on YOUR MOTOR, not the other car! You never paid a penny into the other car!

I didn't sell you the first car, so you felt like I OWED you the labor and shit to put your car together? As a nice gesture I paid over $900 to get the car finished for you.

Your investment was $1700 for the AWD shell, with automatic, $500 for machine work to assemble the block with the internals you provided and the block you provided, and and my investment was $900 + doing all the bitchwork to get your car running. I had no reason, other than being somewhat nice to invest the time and money after I decided not to sell you the other car.

You did not hold up to your end of the deal about the parts, and I still have your additional parts, but you never paid for the services, and even told me you just told me whatever you thought I wanted to hear, to get me to do whatever you wanted.

BTW, good call on not pulling your glock .40, as my H&K .40 was on my wasteband too, not in the truck..

I never had any intention of screwing you out of the title. I showed up at my garage, as I told you. When we left Trevors, as opposed to you following, you decided to stay behind and shit-talk me to him. It's your fault for not following. I followed all the speed limits and stuff to get to the garage.

I gave you all the parts back to the car that you provided, except the motor mounts, and the valve tool. You STILL have MY ECU in your car - convienient you failed to mention that. Why would I send motor mounts and valve tool to someone who showed up, did not pay the $200 agreed upon, and has not returned my money or my ECU?

Hey ***. If I did something wrong, SUE ME. I have given you all my information. Take it to court, let the judge decide - you won't, because you know you are WRONG!

Hell, at the least, try to communicate without sending threats every time you communicate. I don't respond to threats. I have no reason to. It is ####ing immature.

In case you forgot, just send me a PM and I'll send you my contact info. If you want to square up, that's the way to do it. Not come on bashing me about something YOU hold responsibility for. I spent money out of pocket that I didn't need to spend, to help you out. The way you respond, is because not everything went as you planned, you bash all of the bad things, and mention nothing of the good, or what was right.

Damn what luck.
If you ever buy a car never give a deposit or have someone else put in your parts or motor or whatever it is you have.

Buy the car all out first, and put your own shit in it yourself or at least have the car in your posession at the minimum till you can save up and have a reputable shop put your stuff in. It would have saved you a huge headache and time.

exactly what I was thinking on this thread. its gonna be an epic bashing of getting no where and trying to make a dsm nice/fast/reliable and having horrible people skills.

Wow, just wow. Calling you out online finally get's a response out of you, huh Eric? Phone calls, txts, and PMs don't work but a lame Blog that doens't even have your name in it anymore does. Crazy. You woudln't want to look like a hack job thief in front of your e-peers right? Since you couldn't even look me in the eye in person and now you're talking mad shit on the internet WTF, I'm going to skip over a lot of your tough guy thread and just say a few things:

1) I paid $500 towards the CAR, and made two separate subsequent payments via Paypal for the engine work when it was completed. I not only have the Paypal receipts, but I have PMs from you asking for money so you could pick up each of the engine components from the respective shops. The initial $500 was used with the additional $1200 I sent you early this year to pay for the $1700 car.

2) You offered to install the engine into a car if i could find one. And I appreciated the gesture. Obviously, in hind-site, I should have avoided you like the plague because it's painfully obvious that you are not a shop, do not work on cars, and have absolutely no DSM knowledge or respect for other peoples property. If you wanted to be a nice guy and do me a favor, you could have asked me to have someone pick up all my parts and my car and I would have had a knowledgeable competent mechanic do the work. Don't make it sound like you did me a huge favor by ####ING UP MY CAR!

3) If you want to square up, I'm all for it. You're trying to make it sound like I owe you $200 and you owe me $700 in parts... and somehow I'm the bad guy here? Telling lies and screwing you over? HOW? Yes I have your ECU (like I said at the bottom of the blog) in my car because you have mine. How am I screwing you over there? If you would have given me my property, I would have had an ECU to drive the car home with and wouldn't have needed yours. We shook hands and you told me you'd send me my parts the Monday after I left and I'd send you the ECU and $200 as soon as I received them. Why didn't you send me my parts?

How am I up in this deal right now? We have each others EPROM ECUs so we're square at $0 there.
I'd much rather have mine so I'd be happy to return yours if I ever get mine.

I owe you $200 that I said I would pay you and still will if I ever get my stuff back. So you're $200 in the hole there.

And you owe me an OEM 4G63 overhaul kit, OEM timing belt tensioner and pulleys, JNZ BSEK, OEM 4G64 timing belt, full Prothene motor mounts, DSMLink chip, and Snap On Valve Compressor tool. So I'm over $700 in the hole there.

When I'm out over $700 in parts and you're out $200 in cash, WHY WOULDN'T I WANT TO SQUARE UP ERIC? Are you kidding me? SEND ME MY SHIT!

And I'll return the gesture of being a nice guy and un#### my car that you damn near destroyed. That's on the house there "friend."

I'll delete this blog, Same Day FedEx your ECU and a $200 money order to you at no extra cost, and send you a ####ing Thank You card if I get my parts back. If you're going to write that big rebuttal claiming to be a decent guy and that I took advantage of you for not paying for services, here's your chance to man up and square up. I'm PMing you my new address right now. Go ahead and let the good audience here know of your intentions. Anyone with half a brain knows I'll never see a single part or penny for the scam job you pulled on me. But, baffle me Eric! Prove me wrong! Square up and be a man and decent human being. I admit to having the $200 I said I'd pay you and you admit to having my parts. PM is inbound.

I'm still waiting Eric.

If you're gonna stick up for yourself, why don't you tell me why I supplied you with an OEM overhaul kit and you used old gaskets on my new engine instead? Why did I give you both a brand new OEM 4G63 timing belt and OEM 4G64 timing belt and receive an engine with a stretched out, reused Goodwrench belt on it? Why I supplied you with a new OEM tensioner pulley, new OEM idler pulley, and new OEM tensioner and received an engine with used, rusted pieces instead? Why did you take my ECU out of my car in the first place and "lose" it and have to loan me yours so I could drive home?

Maybe it's because you were building a 4G63 2.3 stroker at the exact same time and used all of my stuff on your build? And then you put it up for sale!!! So you not only stole my stuff, you profited off of it. That's also why I won't see that stuff again because you're not going to go out and buy $500 worth of OEM parts to send me just to get $200 cash back.

I'm still waiting Eric.

You're accusing ME of not communicating with you but you still haven't replied to my simple PMs requesting you send my parts to my current address in exchange for the ECU and $200. And you view the blog but don't respond. What's up Eric? Am I ever going to see my parts again or are you going to prove me right and stay a liar, hack job, and a thief?

I see you logging in every day but you don't respond or accept my offer to square up. What's your excuse now? Are you going to accuse me of threatening you again? The only thing I ever said to you that could be considered a threat is that I wouldn't just disappear and forget about you screwing me out of my parts and destroying my car. Take it as a threat if you want but it's more of a promise.

"swarm has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space." That sure is convenient there buddy LOL

well honestly, the way i feel if i was you, i would make my next vacation close to his place. go out in the middle of the night and take his car/what ever you can part out fast or my personal favorite. 5 gallon jug of kerosene all over every car he owns. kerosene can't be put out with water. just my two cents.

I believe that's how most rational people would react to a similar situation with no reasonable means to an end. They'd wait an appropriate amount of time until fresh memories of a similar event had passed, they'd create a comfy little alibi for themselves, and they'd personify retribution, either by their hand or their will. But you can't threaten people online these days, it's against the law.

never threatend.. just gave some sort of comical advice to ease the situation. what you do with the kerosene cannot be held against me or any of my thoughts. as to the creator of kerosene on the other hand, all the credit goes to him.

if nothing happens or gets fixed, just do the simple thing that no one would ever think of you or anything to do with you. wait 6-9 months then be creative with the kerosene. it works wonderfully. been there done that. guess the guy should not of acetoned my car and slit my tires.

Well I thought we'd come to a solution to this between ourselves but it appears that he's chosen to ignore it again. Here's our conversation from two weeks ago. Every day since his last post which I received on the 20th, I've sent a reminder to respond like he said he would. He logs in every day, ignores the situation, and logs out. Now his PMs are full and there's no word. Figures.

I've ceased fire on the blog, where's my response to work things out? Where are my parts? I'm pulling the engine for the second time, it'd be nice not to have to pay for parts I've already purchased.

First, I supplied the gasket set, timing belt, etc to Trevor, who did the install into your car. If said parts are not on the car, I don't have them. You have accused me of using your parts for my own build. My motor was built by KaizenSpeed, is not a 2.4 or even a 2.3 as you have said, and KaizenSpeed supplied all the gaskets and such for my build. Also I have the Gates Kevlar belt, also by receipt from KaizenSpeed. That being said, I'm not telling you to #### off. Let me know what you dropped off but did not receive. I delivered the car to Trevor with your parts in a plastic bin in the hatch. I do not -think- that the motor mounts were in that bin, but cannot be sure. If they weren't, they up and disappeared. Not your problem though.

The valve tool is sitting in the passenger seat of my Talon currently, as is your ECU.
so far as I know, the things you are questioning are:

Gaskets, Timing Belt, Oil Pump, ECU, Motor Mounts, and Valve Tool?

Gaskets: Delivered to Trevor. I don't recall everything exactly, but I'm pretty sure there were gaskets he told me did not work on that motor. I don't know for sure - I didn't go there every time and look for myself.

Timing Belt: Was in the plastic bin with the rest of the parts. This is the first I have heard of it not being used.

Oil Pump: The wrong order pump was sent. The wrong oil pump was re-sent. Bought a topline locally and installed it to get car running. I had discussed this with you.

ECU: In the passenger seat of my Talon. Car runs odd with it - like on 3cyl or so. Mine was used to troubleshoot yours.

Motor Mounts: Previously addressed.

Valve Tool: Passenger seat of Talon.

What is your idea for a solution?

There are a lot of issues but the one I'm furious about is the timing parts. There was an old stretched out GoodYear gator back belt on the engine when I pulled the timing covers the first time. That was the first indication that more than a hack job install was wrong with this ordeal. The overhaul kit had a brand new OEM 63 belt in it and I supplied you with an additional OEM 64 belt I paid an extra $75 for. So $150 in timing belts are missing right off the bat. On top of that, the tensioner, tensioner pulley, and idler pulley were rusted and old. I shelled out over $150 for those parts also. I send you text messages about this and tried calling multiple times (you had no voice mail) less than a week after getting home with the car when I figured all of this out. I never did get a response from you, my parts, or anything since then. Why wouldn't I accuse you of stealing my parts for your build? Even if you've got a destoked 2.1 or whatever combination of 4G6X parts, the timing parts and most of the gaskets are still the same so assuming you just used them for your project is what I did.

As for the gaskets: The intake and exhaust manifold gaskets were aftermarket and the exhaust one in particular was not new. The oil feed and return gaskets for the turbo, while really unimportant considering the turbo was toast with no coolant lines hooked up, were both stamped Felpro and the turbo-manifold, turbo-o2, o2-downpipe gaskets were ancient and old. The valve cover gasket you tried to reuse when swapping valve covers while I was standing there was so old it was disgusting. I should have realized at that time the OEM gasket in the overhaul kit was never used. The throttle body gaskets were old, cracked and reused. The overhaul kit was over $300, it included every single one of these including crush washers and all. Everything on the head was OEM 2G so there's no reason any of these gaskets wouldn't work because of the 2.4 bottom end. The OEM 4G63 felt head gasket wasn't used because I supplied you with a Cometic which was installed. But the $80 felt gasket wasn't returned to me. I asked you for all of the leftover overhaul kit at your garage and you said "sure no problem" and even offered me anything else DSM related you had because you said you were getting out of DSMs for good. While I don't believe you owe me the entire overhaul kit, the OEM parts mentioned above were not returned to me in addition to the timing parts.

As for the oil pump, I don't know what actually happened with the cluster #### in wrong shipments or whatever and you did tell me you bought a Topline locally. All I know is whatever is on the engine and what I paypaled you $200 for is scrap metal. The oil pump sprocket barely moves. From what I've been told, if you guys hacked off the rear shaft with a cut off wheel like you showed me when I was there rather than use the $52 JNZ kit I provided, that unbalanced stubby shaft caused excessive wear on the smaller gear inside the oil pump and has killed the thing. Either that or the pump wasn't primed or lubed before start up an that ruined it right away. You told me the JNZ kit wouldn't work which is incorrect because the 7 bolt 4G63 front case fits the block and therefore would use the 7 bolt 4G63 BSEK kit I provided. Regardless, the JNZ kit wasn't returned to me if it wasn't reused. I already bought another OEM pump, I'll chalk that up as another lose, but I'd like my JNZ kit so I can use it this time around.

We talked about the Prothene mounts and you said you probably had them at your house and would mail them.

The ECU. I'm still using your ECU and it works fine. I have another out being socketed right now and was going to sell yours to recoup the $200 I had to spend on the oil pump last week.

I'll still send the ECU and your $200. I don't think I should owe you $200 because you told me you had to buy a new alternator, new spark plugs, new spark plug wires, and freeze plugs. The alternator is in no way shape or form new. It works but it's probably a decade old. The spark plugs were also old and reused and on top of that, they were iridium plugs that don't even belong in a 4G engine. The spark plug wires are also not new or anywhere close to it. If you did spend your own money on those parts and gave them to Trevor, he stole them from you. Regardless, I said I'd give you $200 and I still will do exactly that.

My idea for a solution is what we were supposed to do in the first place and what we shook on in your garage. You send me my stuff and I'll send you yours. Nothings changed except the amount of parts I've found that were not returned to me.

I'll respond tomorrow (Monday) when I have some more time. But the message was received.

Still waiting for that response and a solution to this Eric. I sat there for 18 months listening to you tell me "I've been busy", "I've been out of town", "I work all day every day", "I work two jobs" and whatever other excuses you had. I just want my parts, respond to the PM.

Kerosene solves all your issues. Trust me. Might not get your parts, but will make your anger and self esteem boost up. I do wish you luck on this though.

^damm dude you have an obssession with Kerosene....but i still love the idea =D i totally do something like that if i had that problem hahaha f**k u swarm!!!! hope ## shit burns! hahaha
