So I finally got some time to undergo the project of installing my built short block and megasquirt among many other miscellaneous upgrades. I got the whole motor out yesterday without any real problems or concerns. Jacked the car up, and dropped the motor completely assembled, tranny with axles and all right out to the side
Today start taking stuff from the old block and bolting onto the new one while it's hanging there....now the issues. I got the ARP head stud kit 141-4202 from a member on here brand new in box. Come to realize that the studs will not thread into the block. They seem to be fatter than the stock tty head bolts and the threads themselves are actually different. Hell, they wouldn't even fit in the two outside holes with the dowels. The kit seemed to be fully intact and brand new as stated...but this can't be right WTF
I also have not even managed to get my AF/X udp off of my old crank. The hobbby shop here on base has the "harmonic dampener removal tool", yet in all their random bolts in the kit...none would thread into the pulley. I know I'm going to need a longer M12 x 1.50 bolt to help install the pulley, but couldn't find anywhere after searching what the actual bolt sizes are to use in the pulley. It would be kinda hard to just walk in the hardware store carrying my whole bottom end just to find the right size
The hobby shop is actually closed now until wednesday, so I have a little bit of time to figure all this out seeing as my car is in pieces and charging me a stall fee until I do. With the new block and megasquirt, my new headgasket is gonna do jack for me if I have to end up using stock replacement headbolts. I've found the exact part numbers etc to order directly from ARP, but can't just drop another $150 plus to have it all shipped 2day air here to me in Alaska. meh....looks like my little weekend project is turning into another dsm is broken sig on all my forums
. Oh well, the one night she finally ran was fun. Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated
