Sorry I didn't realize how long this was.....Alright so I'm your average 16 year old..17 next week, meaning minimum cash flow
(Damn why cant I have "cool" parents who buy me a brand new evo or 350z?
) So in my everlasting search for a car I was determined to find the best bang for my buck(2000-3000). Lets see we got...Civic hatchbacks,1st gen tegs,maybe a couple of neons......crap!Of course none of this sounded appealing after the years of reading on LS1s, 300zxs or a 2g eclipse. Luckily I stumbled on to the 1g dsms and I knew this would be the car for me.
So Ive been keeping an eye out for about three months (turbo of course) while at the time driving my civic I got for three hundred from a family friend. Finally I found a clean white Tsi Fwd (you don't know how much I had my mind set of the awd) Overall Its a nice car for the age. Already I have found several little interior annoyances(broken hatch supports, broken passenger door locks..), but its the engine I'm concerned about for now. Its got about 150k on it which isn't bad because I would like to get it rebuilt down the line anyways. For now as long as it passes smog Im cool. (Damn you California) It runs fine,new belts about 20k ago, spools up quick and, shifts good. The best thing about it though? 100 percent stock. The only things needed is a O -Ring rebuild (I heard this was a common problem in the 1st gens?) and it also needs new front tires and the front rotors resurfaced. For a thousand bucks I couldn't resist.
After I change the oil, and drain all the fluids I plan on doing the general mods probably stopping after installing a bigger turbo.(I hope I just don't kill my self in the process, 1 year of driving exp+ 220-300hp = trouble and even I know that
) Well wish me luck, I'm sure Ill have plenty of questions for you guys as time goes on, and I hope to learn a lot about not only working on dsms but working on cars by my own in general
(While maybe ripping the doors off some hondas in the process)

. I guess my and my newly purchased shop manual are going to be seeing a lot of each other. I dont want to become engulfed in rice and just focus on looks and muffler tips, but at the same time I dont want to become a cash slave to the mechanic. The more advanced cars get the less people want to work on their cars, which I think is a shame. I would really like to gain a well rounded knowledge about installing my own parts.
